I had 3 stents in March and have suffered with various aches and pains in chest and upper arms. Cardiologist says hearts fine and must be muscular. Last week chest pain was horrible and shortness of breath. Rang Doctors Monday morning sent straight to A and E all tests came back good. Just told to go home and ring Doctors for an appointment. Still getting shortness of breath and pain Doctors made an appointment for the 11th September. It seems now they say it’s not heart cope with it even though the Doctors sent me to A and E I know it’s not my heart it feels different I suffered with unstable angina since my heart attack in September 2022. A year on nearly and still feeling like this. Surely 5 months after stunting things should be getting easier not worse. Sorry just needed to write this down and clear my head.

Sorry for your troubles. I had something similar and it was a full 18 months before I had a day where I didn't experience chest pains. In my instance I have some histamine issues which I suspect could have been causing it. Also, you'll be on a lot of different drugs which can have all sorts of undesirable effects on the body.

Do keep working with your GP, but hopefully things will improve for you. I think the standard advice that everything will be back to normal after a few weeks is unrealistic and unhelpful for many.

Many thanks I think it’s probably as it’s a year ago since I had the heart attack and was just expecting to have the stents and feel 100 percent well. I hope your ok take care

Had a similar issue. Had a stent in January and as you I thought I would just feel better. However still get chest pain, sometimes seems exercise related and sometimes not. I have contacted the GP both times who said as it's chest pain I needed to go to a and e. They kept me in, did blood tests and ecgs and then sent me home saying they were all ok and they didn't think it was heart related.

Really felt like it was. I Habe recently got back to doing some cycling which is good. I also just think my expectations were too high. It would have been really helpful if someone would have explained this

Hi thank you I just felt at a loss and I know it’s not my heart so when they send you to A and E I feel like I am wasting their time. The doctors called me in yesterday and are not concerned about the shortness of breath. Thinks that it’s Musculoskeletal and connective tissue and has prescribed morphine and referring me to the pain clinic. Take care and hopefully we will be free of chest pain in the near future

My husband after re-stenting as he had stents after a heart attack in 2007, is still getting chest pains etc., but nothing showing up on tests even said he has not got angina. However he has been told it is micro-vascular angina before which does not show up or is difficult to diagnose under a different consultant. He still gets chest pains and shortness of breath and he is just 60 years old. It can be very frustrating but I think that if you are on medication the doctors think it is being managed by the medicine and leave it. Take care and know how you feel.

Thank you it’s so frustrating but I finally think my doctors realised yesterday. I know mines not angina as I had unstable angina for months before the stents and I kept saying this is different pain. It just makes you feel so depressed and u happy. I hope your husbands chest pain and shortness of breath eases take care and your husband too x

Yes my husband needed resenting but we were not getting anywhere so we paid to see a private consultant who took us on on the NHS 4 months later he had an angiogram by which time he was in a bad way and he had 99% stenosis in his stented artery so he had to have more stents. It can be quite scary when you know things are not right but no one will listen take care
