Can anyone recommend a good travel insurance company don't want to pay through the nose for holiday insurance 😫
Holiday: Can anyone recommend a good... - British Heart Fou...
Holiday

this question comes up again and again on this forum.
What’s good for one person won’t be good for the next.
Go to Moneysavingexpert or Moneyhelper UK website and see what they say, then follow the links. You may have to apply to several companies to find out their position, which is always based on statistics of their claims. Ensure you are truthful.
I assume you already have the European health card which covers, at the cost of whatever the locals pay, some treatment in Europe but isn’t the same as travel insurance.
Don’t make any bookings until you find out the price of travel insurance, so you know what the whole holiday is to cost.
Unfortunately if you are viewed to be high risk due to pre-existing medical conditions and especially if you have an undiagnosed condition or awaiting tests you may well have to 'pay through the nose' for travel insurance or worse you may get declined cover, that's just how it is. And since we are all different just because someone on here had a good deal with Allclear or Staysure or Avanti or any of the other providers that get mentioned on here doesn't necessarily mean that you will. So you must do your own research to find out how the insurers view your perosnal circumstances, typically by using a comparison site which covers travel insurance with pre-existing medical conditions and take it from there, or talk to an insurance broker. Hope you can get fixed up.
I went with All Clear.. they were great and great service too!
Comparison sites will give you a range of Choices so I use justtravelcover.com which comes up with 10 or 20 alternatives. generally if you don't book immediately within a day you will get a 10% discount offer.
I also used puffin insurance who were cheaper than justtravel on the second of 2 quotes i wanted.
Thank u
I have CKD and Staysure were great.
Go on pumping Marvellous site and search travel insurance thy have a compare site on there that usually gives a good price ...ive used the site twice
Hi I use insurancewith.com they specialise in people with pre existing conditions and they won't break the bank. I hope you get your insurance organised and have a fab holiday. We are off to Palma Nova in June with friends, I can't wait. Char x
I'm hopefully of to Greece if I can sort insurance 😅 in September then canaries for my 30th wedding anniversary in November so think have to buy insurance twice 😅
consider a multi trip, annual policy. Often cheaper than 2 singles and saves the stress and time of application. Good luck !
Hi,get a policy for a year,I use BP insurance a Preston based company found them to be way cheaper than any other I've used
Hi, As you are hoping to take two holidays, would it be worth getting quotes for annual insurance rather than two separate quotes? Just a thought.
Only yesterday I got two companies for quotes for a 22 day cruise. I am not going on this because I have changed my mind, but here is what I found. Conditions included paroxysmal AF, and were for an 86 yr old.
Insure and Go £784.35
Avanti £727.11 or if booked online £484.29
Both of these were for the basic/classic option.
I have heard that if you take out a "Frequent Flyer" Trav insurance it CAN work out cheaper than just a one off holiday cover. That was from someone who has COPD, after declaring his condition to both Insurance companies the Frequent Flyer quote was still a third less but covered him for a whole year if needed. I'VE NOT TRIED MYSELF but intend to. Best wishes.
Hi, we had problems finding a company who didn't charge the earth,so eventually we went to our Nationwide Flex a/c and saved a lot of cash. It costs us £18/month with an upfront amount after detailing our health problems. One famous insurer wanted to charge us over £ 4.000 because of our health issues,so it pays to shop around to try and find the best deal for you.

Brilliant thanks but 4.000 that's the price of my holiday 😀
I looked at saga ( someone with similar health condition to me recommend).
I have diagnosed condition and awaiting operation.
For one trip it was £200 ish for a year of trips £240ish
Unfortunately I didn’t take it up due to ill health ! Ironically. But I will in future.
They were very helpful on the phone while sorting it out. Reimbursed my money immediately.
It shows how an insurer with a good deal for one person isn’t a good deal for someone with different health conditions as I couldn’t even get insurance cover with Saga.
We can only keep trying different insurers or pre-existing comparison sites as no ones circumstances are the same.
We have been with Staysure for a few years. My husband has been looking at others as we are due to Auto renew and some of the other companies prices were ridiculous. Stay sure we're easy to contact when we need help last year and I would recommend them , from personal experience. Shop around though and check the cover meets your needs. We are off to Corfu in a couple of weeks and I feel confident I am covered.
Do a search on this site; there are literally hundreds of posts about it
Really don't know where to begin or what to click on 😂
Try annual multitrip insurance through your bank.
My bank doesn't do it anymore x
hi. Try this website. They specialise in insurance for people with health conditions. It's a comparison site. I found annual cover cheaper than single trip and I've got a very complex health history. It's worth trying .
payingtoomuch.com

Hi @Yodayodz,
You can find more information about Travel Insurance on the BHF website here:

I really think the paragraph which says....
It’s a good idea to talk to your GP before purchasing an insurance policy, as they will be able to help you answer the medical questions.
.....really needs updating or better deleting. It might have been possible 10 years ago to do this if the need arose, but since the pandemic and certainly in 2025, it seems most people including me have great difficulty getting an appointment with their GP to talk about real issues with their health, let alone have a chat about travel insurance.
