Hey Everyone

Just had my doctor's appointment different GP from normal but she was lovely.

I explained how I've been feeling in the evening's and she look at my medical records and she said she wasn't surprised I feel the way I do, with everything I've been through.

She has increased my anti depressants a little bit and suggested when I'm able to go for a walk in the evening as that might help a bit. She is referring me for counselling but the waiting list is 9 months so if it's just my current situation that's getting me down then I "May" be feeling better by then. She asked if I'm going to Cardiac Rehab and that talking to them may help me and I have my appointment for that next week 😁

I'm quite happy with how it went, I'm treating mum to lunch today it's mother's day in Spain on sunday and I ruined the British mother's day for her this year, and I haven't got round to booked a spa day for us yet. I'm going to try and treat her every day this week.

Oh and to those that read my post about scaring Mum last night dropped something in the shower, she's fine and has just about forgiven me. 😂

V x

You sound much happier today.😋 Glad everything is going the right way for you now and wish you lots of good things to come. 👍

Hello :-)

I am glad your appointment went so well and you got someone so understanding and very true there is no wonder after everything you have been through you feel down in an evening

I know the waiting lists are long for therapy but lets hope you might not need it when your name comes to the top of the list but at least you are on the list

Just one thing V you did not ruin Mothers day for your Mum please do not think that you could not help what your body decided to do !

I am so glad she is ok after you dropping the bottles and giving he a fright :-D

You and your Mum are so special enjoy your meal together and a lovely positive post :-) x

We weren't going to celebrate mother's day that day anyway but I did kinda feel bad it happened on mother's day.

in reply to Valentina98

Yes I remember but still you had nothing to feel bad about and it would have been the best Mothers day present to your Mum that you were ok :-) x

Take good care V, remember how much progress you have made with everything you have been through. It is important to reflect on that. I know you started to do a ‘win’ for every day, perhaps do a reflections diary every day, just one thing to reflect on positively. I think your talk at school was a huge achievement! And as ever don’t expect to much to soon, you have been through an awful lot! Take care 🥰🥰

I know I just felt bad it was on mother's day. Like you said mum is just happy I'm still here.

Your are doing fine. I still have my ups and downs but it is hard. If you don't mind me asking what anti depressants are you on. Just wondering as iam on sertraline. Changed to that from prozac ( fluoxetine). Keep well

I've been on anti depressants for years I've tried them all lol I'm currently on a combination of Sertraline and Mirtazapine (or Marzipan as I call it)

in reply to Valentina98

Thank you for your reply. I will do some investigation. See what could be best for me.

Valentina98 in reply to

I've heard that marzipan is more commonly prescribed for older people.

in reply to Valentina98

I have to admit it's not easy. I try these tablets and then get aide effects, or I think I get side effects. The trouble is that you have to give them time. I was on fluoxetine since 2008. And then wanted something different as I did not think they where working any more. I will have to have a think. Thanks for reply.

I'll send you a message and talk more about it if it's okay x

Another positive outcome for you V they are beginning to pile up now and squash the negative ones.

There is a self referral mental health site called Steps To Wellbeing on line that maybe of help to you { it was to me }

Take care and please stop reacting the " Psycho " shower scene for your Mum X

Valentina98 in reply to

I've been told there is a long waiting list even for that at the moment. But I'll look into it x

in reply to Valentina98

Yes there is but the sooner you're on the list the better, and if you fill out the referral online they will assess you very fast before { the bit that takes time } placing in touch with help.

You can then use that assessment letter to inform your Dr/ Cardiologist /work of your situation or if you need help with any benefits etc.

Have a great time celebrating with your mum and a spa day sounds wonderful to look forward to!

I hope the increase in meds is helpful, I'm struggling with what to do about mine at the moment, as I don't feel they're working too well since my HA in December. I feel a bit unsure how to talk to the gp about it though, so well done you for having the conversation and I'm glad the gp was a nice lady, that always helps.

I was worried about going to her as I've always seen the same one for my depression, but she made me feel very much at ease.

In my experience if I've been struggling with my medication I've always gone back to the doctors. I've tried all the anti depressants you can name lol I've just made an appointment and gone and said I think my meds need changing

Ok, thanks V, maybe I'll try that.

in reply to Callie456

Dear Callie

Sorry to jump in on another OP post but it is important that your keep your Dr informed how you feel during your treatment, because most treatments need tweaking as they go along.

Sometimes its even beneficial to reduce the dose on some of these meds { mine where }

So please contact your surgery and don't suffer.

Take care

Thankyou for your comments, yes I think I need to see the gp about it, as tweaking is required somehow.

Morning V hope you had a good night.

Do look forward to your heart rehab as mine was brilliant.

In regards to counselling, would you be able to get any through the school (as your employer) or through your union?

Have a good day (the sun is out here). x

Your 'small point' is very relevant TWU - and very true too! My own wee Mum loved having an opportunity to look after all four of us right up until she passed away two years ago at 91 - despite the fact that we were all well over 50! If I ever noticed that she was feeling a bit 'down' (very rarely) I'd sometimes even invent some task that needed doing, or ask her advice about something, just to see her wee face light up.👍🙂

good news V your on the up. May I ask what anti depressants you are on my doctor keeps on about me taking them, and I’m scared rigid she said you often feel worse the first month and I couldn’t face feeling worse than I do now I feel it’s not worth the risk!! If I didn’t live alone I might try them but I’m a devout coward 😳

thank you V that’s what a sitting in my drawer did you feel worse when you started on them? She also said they would help me sleep x

Valentina98 profile image
Valentina98 in reply to Dogloverxthree

The marzipan is good to help you sleep (the lower dose especially) I started this combination in December 2020 just after I lost my dad so I couldn't say if it helped as it was a bit of a blur.
