Hello :-)

I can see from a few posts now you are not happy on Bisoprolol

If they changed you to another med similar do you think you would react the same as this may be more of a fear of meds than anything else ?

You said you felt funny after a slight hot flush do you think that could be because the flush made you panic and when we panic we do feel strange after

You are on a very low dose which usually does not affect you to much but if you really think you cannot tolerate them then you will need to speak with your Doctor

Let us know how you get on :-) x

The thing is not being use to this sort of drug and the affect it has on me yesterday i was okay but Saturday i felt good during the day but in the evening i seemed to have it a couple of times , it just throwes my mind out . was talking to some i know and he has to take a certain beta blocker but he said he had the same effects , he said it takes a while for the body to get use to it.

Hello :-)

Until we get put on them none of us are used to these kind of drugs and a lot of us feel strange for a while till we adjust but when we tend to be anxious it makes matters worse

I am trying so hard with something new that I have been prescribed and I feel like it is a nightmare and I know my anxiety is playing the biggest part in how I am feeling

Members have shared with you as well as your friend they take some adjusting to and they do but when you have especially with that little dose you are on you should not be able to notice eventually you are taking them

Try and focus on the good they are doing for your heart that is a positive :-) x

I have to admit I do get anxious and stressed I am trying different things to keep me calm I just like to know its the drug causing this and not something else.,my mind work,s like this, did,t use to be.

Hello :-)

My mind has always worked like yours and sometimes we are worriers for years and then other times we are not and something comes along and triggers it of like I think it seems to have done with you

See the drug as a positive and not a negative give it time and things will settle down :-) x

I was on 2.5mg bisoprolol and it made my pulse go too slow and got dizzy, got it reduced to 1.25mg and decided to take at night before going to sleep and was much better

I was on 1.25mg of bisoprolol for around 12 months, spanning a heart ablation procedure. Around the two week mark I felt awful; dizzy, switched to taking it about 8:00pm and then was OK after a couple of days.

I have been on it for a year 2.5 and I am sure that is why I feel funny at times, I get really hot, then panic, then get hotter, then get anxious!

But I have a terrible fear and health anxiety so stay on it, I have no doctor to speak to as I cannot get an appointment and just feel so 'funny' everyday!

Hope you get sorted.

After OHS, was put on 2.5mg bisoprolol and once home i experienced exactly the same issues. They lowered my dosage to 1.25mg and been fine since. I think the 1.25mg dosage is the lowest amount available, so think best for you speak with doctors and seek alternative drug, convinced that will help and its your body not liking bisoprolol.

Good luck

How long have you been taking it? I take 5 mg a day, have been for 3 years. At first I was getting those flushing feelings once in a while, but it's improved as time goes on. One thing that I try to do is drink a LOT of water, like 2 liters a day. It seems to help.

For me, I think the flushing feelings were worsened by anxiety -- you know, you feel a bit odd and the next thing you think, I'm having another HA! You get dizzy, you sweat etc...This is very common, I think.

I have worked on breathing exercises to calm myself. They were often in an enclosed place or underground, where anxiety can be worsened.

hi. I’ve been in bisoprolol 5mg for about 26 years. The things that upset the status quo are a powerful antibiotic for h pylori. This interferes with the metabolism of the drug. And alcohol. But I’ve never had the flushing (that I’m aware of)and am wondering if it’s something else at play. Definitely worth talking to your gp. But perhaps keep a food/general diary first to see if there is a pattern

I’ve had a blood test recently which showed I was low in folate. It’s quite amazing how little things can upset the norm.

Many of us have fight or flight anxieties. Beta blockers like bisoprolol are supposed to lower anxieties and your pulse. I am on 2.5 mg taken at evenings. If I take in the morning, it makes me lightheaded and nauseous. I think anytime you take a med like bisoprolol, you are artificially resetting the way your body behaves. Bisoprolol does help with my BP and pulse but the side effects of tiredness and feeling lightheaded is the price we pay.

I’m another Bisoprolol flusher. Had flushes before surgery usually within 30 minutes of taking. They dropped it to 1.25 mg post surgery and then put it back up to 2.5. As soon as I returned to 2.5 I got the flushes again. If I sit for 30 minutes after taking the effects are much less severe.

I know exactly how you feel!!! Rest assured 1.25 is a very low dose, and usually the starting dose given to patients. If you have never been unwell before, in a heart sense, then taking any kind of medication is always an adjustment and can take a wee while for your brain to catch up with it all. If you are at all concerned about these symptoms then perhaps an appointment with your doctor may help allay your worries and fears.
