I have been having numbness and heart buzzing etc and have been to a cardiooligist i am 38 year old male. I think it is anxiety or panic attacks. I went for a heart scan in a polo mint shape machine i had a attack before it my heart went through the roof and i wasnt allowed the scan. The doctor who was doing the scan wrote to the cardiooligist and he asked me to have a 7 day monitor fitted. I have been waiting 7 weeks for the result. They rang me today because i have mithered them and said a letter is in the post and a update on the way to my doctors they wont tell me the result but did say the cardioologist wanted a follow up appointment i am now worrying what this could be. If it was serious surely they wouldnt write a letter? any help apprecaited

Hi, Your Cardiologist will have the results from your 7 day monitor and they normally see you with your results- I would suggest you write down some questions you would like to ask. Medical terminology can be difficult to understand and I’m sure you will get to know what is going on at your next appointment. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and I’m sure you will then understand what is happening and lots of people are in the same position as yourself. The BHF are amazing they have literature and help lines.

Hi, Thank you for your response. The carioologist secretary rang me to say a letter was in the post to me and to ring my doctors in the next 48 hours they will have the result too. I presume it can't be anything serious hopefully if its just tablets i need etc so be it i am just worried as you only have 1 heart!

Me too. Trust the Cardiologist they are so clever at reading ECG results and will know exactly what to do with you.

Try to keep as much as possible stress fee - difficult with these busy lifestyles we have. Deep breaths help, relaxation and so on. Also triggers for abnormal heart beats can be certain foods, alcohol, spices etc. I know I have had issues since I was 37 years old - due to complications of flu. Meds for a short period then ok with nil treatment for years. Lots more to tell. I’m good I’m ok all thanks to the NHS and their expertise in Cardiology. I have a Medical background.

As soon as it is something urgent you cannot beat the NHS for hurtling into action so rest assured it isn;t anything that needs immediate attention. Unfortunately anything else you wait and wait as the system is so overloaded. Good luck when you finally get to see the cardiologist.
