Sorry for the spelling

Hi franky , I would call the chemist who makes up your prescription for you , hopefully they will have a record of what you take and get that done for you , you could even set it up for it to be delivered monthly so you are never without . Good luck

Aw bless you Franky , you are having a rough time. I like you haven’t lost your sense of humour though. 😄. I hope by now you’ve been able to get your pills sorted out.

Ps Don’t stop taking them unless the Dr says so!

Hi is your medication on repeat or new ? If repeat and you normally order via chemist take repeat to them if you are going to run out within 5 days put urgent on bottom of slip,if new then your cardiologist should have written to doctor so ask receptionist to look for letter and forward to doctor via electronic message.

I work as receptionist and this is what happens at our surgery obviously I cannot comment on others.

General rule is repeat medication takes 5 days hope this helps.

Hi I took the letter from the hospital to the doctors in October, the recepsionist said aww would you like me to photocopy it,she said as instructed she would foward to the doctor,3 weeks later I herd nout so I got back on to them they didn't know anythink about it, so they had to photo copy again

That’s not great it should go into a file in reception which goes up to admin twice a day

Can you set up an online request? I just send a request one day, and my local pharmacy delivers the next day. Trying to contact the surgery is not an easy task at the moment.

Call the surgery and ask to speak urgently with the practice manager - that receptionist is NOT medically trained and has no business being obstructive about anything including repeat meds - not to mention what you told him/her could be a HA in progress.

Also, you need to talk with the prescribing GP to get those meds on automatic repeat so the prescription is always ready for you to pick-up from the chemist.

My meds are on repeat, the chemist marks the bag with a date for the next pick-up. I use Boots but Lloyds is the same about managing repeat prescription orders. I'm in Scotland but my friends 'Down South' tell me it works the same there with the added bonus that some repeat prescription can be on a delivery order - Royal Mail brings it to your door on schedule!

You should be able these days to set up an automatic repeat prescription order and have it automatically sent to your preferred chemist … I’d also if I needed to call the docs and get the receptionist, clearly state it’s in Regards to your heart matter !!! … I’d even say now, if she tried to fob you off, ask are you medically trained and ask for their name

Tell the receptionist that's what she is a receptionist! (Not all the same) ring back and tell them you WANT an emergency appointment about your heart! Last time I checked it's pretty important. Disgraceful . Good luck. Don't let them mess you about . Having heart issues is stressful enough !

Thanks for the reply it got me really stressed earlier I had to just switch it out my head I could feel my heart comming out my chest,I feel bit better now,I've had this since October when I had the second stent, every time I've tried to set it up I rang the doctors this morning just to check if they was at the chemist and she was like, we got no record of it I've been getting them since October lol, they kept saying I had to take a repeat prescription to them so I did .they even photocopied it then week later said I hadn't been there. I think there trying to finish me off ,I was in there one day and the phone was ringing off the hook so I got up and said are you going to answer that and she said we are busy ,so I said your sitting there talking tho,she didn't like it ,I do feel I need some help I don't know what way to turn I was thinking of calling the Samaritans, I did ask for a emgency appointment and she said there is none.

Ask to speak to a nurse or medical assistant. Go over the secretaries head.

Hi Franky17, I think you should make an appointment with your cardiac team and tell them what is happening with you doctors practice, maybe they could inform the practice of your requirements and stress your condition to them. Good luck. Take care.

Hi I rang them yesterday and the reception said I can't speak to any one there's no one there just her, they gave me the number and said if I ever need help yo call them.

Hi. You obviously need these Tablets quite badly then, especially with the Blood Thinners. If you can't get anywhere with your Doctor's Surgery, ie. The Receptionist in particular, go above their Heads and try phoning your Local Health Board and complain and give them the full details. I'm sure they will get things sorted for you. If not, there's always the NHS Ombudsman! Attitudes like this are completely out of order!!

Have been prescribed clopidogrel or another anti platelet on a repeat prescription?

If you have a pharmacist who usually dispenses your prescription they can give you one weeks supply of tablets until your repeat prescription is sorted out.

Most GP practices can electronically send a prescription to a pharmacist. It arrives within minutes.

I suggest you ring your surgery first thing in the morning and ask to speak to the duty doctor.

If no joy ask to speak to the practice manager.

Also if you ring 111 you can see if they can arrange for you to speak to a doctor who can also prescribe the medication you need as they can access your medical records with your permission.

I hope you get it sorted out soon.

Put a reminder on your phone to order and take your medication.

Bloody hell Franky17 i feel for you. I use the NHS app to order me repeats and I dont have an issue. Sorry i cant add to what others have said.

That sounds awful. As others have suggested you need to speak to the practice manager. Most GPs and pharmacies need 48 hours to order meds, but all should be able to send a prescription electronically to your nominated pharmacy. It might also be worth having a chat with the pharmacy to see if they can deliver.

If you’re worrying that you’re having a heart attack, call 111 - or 999 if you’re sure as it is an emergency.

Also - might be worth asking around to see if there’s another surgery you could move to?

Hi I had a transplant last year and when I was discharged my gp refused to prescribe my immunosuppressants without them my body would reject the néw heart, It was very stressful but I immediately changed doctors I had been with mine for 54 years, it was unbelievable, I did have a few teething problems with the new docs and the meds but it all got sorted out, some are on repeat and I order online and some because they keep changing the dosage I phone but it is a dedicated prescription line, it was quite easy to change Dr, I just phoned another local surgery and asked if they would take me on, definitely less hassle than I got from my old one,I am in Scotland, I would definitely look into a new gp it might be easier in the long run, I fully understand the stress it can cause, take care I hope you get it resolved soon char
