Cardiology apt. With HF doctor

Hi everyone I hope you’re all as well as can be expected.

I had my cardiology apt today with my heart failure cardiologist. I took along my eldest daughter, well she drove me there and my blood pressure was high. We did have a laugh about it as my blood pressure is usually quite low. I was seen straight away so I didn’t have time to rest.

I mentioned the pulmonary hypertension which he said is a part of my heart failure and he explained it’s to do with the right side of my heart which it can affect.

I told him my Gp pharmacist as put me on Ezetimide 10mg tablets for cholesterol as my cholesterol is 4.3, so he noted that. I also told him my Gp pharmacist mentioned I should come off warfarin and go on one of the newer anticoagulant (NOAC), he said they’re no longer new but he don’t see any reason why I can’t change because at least I won’t have to keep having blood tests.

He also mentioned thinking about trying to raise Entresto from 1 twice a day to 2 twice a day. He said as I did the trial originally and couldn’t tolerate the higher dose maybe now I might be able to tolerate it 🤔.

I mentioned my 2 illnesses since I last saw them in January, so he wanted me to have a blood test to check my heart. I did try to find the recent ones I had with my Gp which were thorough, on my patient access,to avoid having it but the Wi-Fi wasn’t working. I had bloods on Wednesday for INR, and in fact I’ve had several INR over the past weeks as it dropped so low since my last illness.

He also told me there’s a shortage of Bumetanide and I mustn’t let my supply go too low before reordering in case the pharmacy can’t supply it. If that is the case I must send them an email letting them know I’m running out.

He reminded me I have my device check next month and he said he wanted to see me in 6 months. We had a good chat and a laugh. Usually I go alone but because I took her I was able to talk.

Sorry about the long post. Have a good evening.

Hello :-)

It sounds like you had a good appointment where they spent time with you going through everything and you were not rushed

I am so glad your Daughter came with you and you could have a laugh you need to make sure I think she comes every time you have one she sounds like she was a great help :-)

So pleased you got some things sorted out and hope it has made you feel good :-) x

Thank you. I have asked her to take me in future and she’s agreed. She does have children so I have to also bare that in mind. But yes, it was tiring for me but very productive. They usually do take the time with me but I don’t say much I just listen and forget all they was saying by the time I get home, travelling by 2 busses. I usually cling to 1 thing they say but I can’t discuss it until maybe a year later, then I forget it. Now my appointments are going back to 6 monthly.

All the best

Hello :-)

You sound like me I had the Nurse come out yesterday and always have my husband with me and when she had gone I think I remembered 2 things and shortly after I could not remember those either !

Hopefully the next appointments you can work round when your Daughter is available and I am so glad even though tiring it was a productive day for you :-) x

So pleased you had a good appointment. I try to take someone with me as it gives confidence and l don't miss anything then. Hope you daughter can go with you next time. I get nervous going in as always worry about parking , journey then trying to explain to everyone afterwards what happened, no wonder you were exhausted! Take care x

Hi Hugomum I hope you’re well, and thank you for commenting. Im so happy we’re now all able to take someone with us. I’m playing catch-up because some people have told me they’ve seen 4 relatives going to an appointment. I had to laugh because for me 1 is enough. I’ve been going on my own since you know what. When the nurse called I told her to stay outside, it was a small room, but the nurse told her to come in and said we don’t worry about that anymore. I hope your next visit goes well. All the best x
