Hello, I am new to this site. I would like some advice about companies that will provide people with travel insurance. I had a silent heart attack some months ago and been left with quite a few problems. I would be grateful for some suggestions.

Hi,

This comes up a few times a week... if you search for travel insurance in the search bar you'll see others suggestions... and no doubt folk will chip in here too.

I hope you find the cover you need. Just prepare yourself that insurance is not normally offered unless diagnosis is complete and the patient has been fully discharged with no outstanding tests.

You don't mention the nature of your "problems", but insurance companies are reluctant to shoulder liabilities unless they have a very clear picture of the risks involved.

Good luck!

So if I’m discharged by my cardiologist do I still need to answer question on heart attack? I am currently trying to obtain travel insurance for next year and have been turned down by nearly all the recommended insurers on here.

I understand having 2 types of cancer and having suffered a heart attack last year is risky, but I’m in remission from one cancer and haven’t had any heart issues for over a year, but the odd quote I’ve had is for over £2,600 for single trip to Mexico.

Dave.

Hello Dave. Yes, you have to disclose all medical history and answer every question accurately and with complete candour. In the event of a claim the insurance company can (and will) access your medical records. If there's any discrepancy...well, you know the rest!

Incidentally Mexico is an amazing destination, the food, the people, the culture, and the climate are all remarkable. If your budget can possibly stretch I'd take a deep breath, pay the premium, and go!

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply, yes been to Mexico 14 times, we love it but prices now for insurance are making it too expensive I’m afraid.

Can I suggest you try the comparison site "justtravelcover.com"

I found it very useful and as its online you can take your time. Travel to America is prohibitely expensive.I wonder if Mexico falls into the same category?

I should have mentioned not to sign up on the spot as they are likely to offer you a 10% discount if you don't bite immediately

yes Mexico falls into the same category as America unfortunately, I have tried multiple sites and all the comparison ones, but cost is too prohibitive, one quoting me £5819.00 for single trip.😤

Worth trying the site I suggested but most don't like America. The EU generally is favoured but Switzerland is expensive. I appreciate Mexico is your first choice but perhaps for now you might need to look elsewhere for your holidays?

just booked a week in Keswick, no insurance needed.😂

If you have a Nationwide Flex Plus account with Travel Insurance, you can ring and ask if they will continue to cover you. I found the additional fee I had to pay, although expensive, a lot cheaper than quotes I was getting from other travel insurance firms
