Hey everyone, does anyone have experience of travel insurance post CABG? Is it easy/cheap to get? I had a 4-way.. I also had a nephrectomy but I'm less concerned about that as an ongoing health concern
Cheers!

I recommend StaySure and AllClear. If you can exclude USA, the Caribbean and cruising the premium will be significantly lower.
Well I did a lot of research and found Free Spirit travel insurance which was a very good price considering my husband has been pretty ill in the last year. They have a good result on Trustpilot. We are going on a cruise . What you have to be careful about with all insurances is if you have been in contact with someone who has the virus and told to isolate just before you step on the ship as the shipping companies insist on a COVID test before you can. Usually because we are jabbed 3 times we don’t have to isolate but this could change. Simply check this scenario when you insure
I use TravelTime for trips to the EU, it works out at approximately £100 per Month.
Hi I have just bought insurance through money supermarket with travel time I had never heard of them before and the policy was half the price of others char
Thank you! I've made a note of the company name, I have a few now. I don't want to be climbing mountains or zip wiring over alligators... Just some peace of mind for a gentle holiday
Have a good day
Neil
Stay sure … just booked some for RoW excluding USA and after cabg*5 in July and the meds I am on, the quote was about the same as a quote in 2019 ! Others quoted about the same or slightly higher and so based on advice from BHF website and this forum, chose Staysure
Hi I have just recently purchased travel insurance for Spain, after trawling through the usual ones, saga stay sure, good to go etc and finding the prices really expensive, money supermarket for pre existing conditions appeared on my screen I didn't hold out much hope as I have had a transplant but low and behold they were half the price with everything I was looking for in a policy. Definitely worth a look I ended up paying £54 for a week a good price for me. Char
Wow, that sounds really good - and much cheaper than I was thinking. I'll definitely give them a look through; I've got a few names now so I can sit down and do some serious desk top research.
Thank you for your reply, it is very much appreciated. I hope you have a great trip, or if you've had it, it was fantastic - and uneventful!
Neil
Hi all going well we are going for new year although there is a lot going on now that we didn't expect so fingers crossed it will be all right.travel insurance is a nightmare when you have a pre existing condition definitely one of my pet hates.I hope you get it sorted out and some hols organised for next year. char
It's worth thinking about the difference between "health insurance" and "travel insurance". You don't only need cover against medical issues, you may also need cover against wider Covid related issues like cancellation by you or by the holiday company.
Don't just buy the cheapest cover you find, instead think about what cover you need and then try and source that specific level of protection at the best price.
Have a great trip!
Hey Chappy, that's a really good point and one I hadn't really considered. I haven't got any trips planned yet, just sort of mulling it over.
I'd been mainly thinking about how difficult it might be to get any insurance but I'm really encouraged by the info I have seen on here.
Thank you for your message, I appreciate it - and you have definitely given me food for thought!
