cystoscopy And not trusting the doctors

Annemarietheknitter profile image

I am supposed to be having cystoscopy procedure tomorrow (a camera inserted into my bladder) my doctors have made a mistake saying I am only taking 60mg ticagrelor twice daily I am taking 90 mg twice daily plus my 75mg of aspirin both thin the blood and I bleed and bruise heavily. The camera inserted can cause bleeding yet they haven’t asked me to stop my meds (I won’t don’t want another HA) who the hell do you trust ? My doctor said I would be having an MRI scan. Why do they forever get things wrong? They said in my notes significant events were Four children I gave birth to yet I have given birth to six! For years I was told my ovaries were not removed when I had a total hysterectomy yet they was removed! Anybody else had the same?

Hi Anne Marie. I understand your concerns why not put everything in writing and make sure the medical team who are looking after you read it. You will be seen by more than one person before you sign the consent form. Hopefully this will help to give you peace of mind. I hope everything goes well.

Hi Phone the department and ask for advice about meds

I had mine done 2 months ago and did not know if I had to stop my Aspirin .

Due to the chance of bleeding

Thay said it was fine.

ticagrelor GP needs to sort that and your other concerns

Thanks I have now spoken to them including my GP and all agree with me so hope a non invasive procedure can be done as it needs sorting.

Hi I was worried about having mine done

But it was painless and was over in a few minutes

Hope you get your scan soon

Thank you but even the doctors agree with me for not doing it because of the blood thinners so they will have to find something else

You have my sympathy Annemarie. My faith in the NHS is at an all time low. It is more or less left to the patient to do the research on their condition and then pester the GP or consultant to get the correct treatment. One rarely sees the same person twice and they spend most of the consultation trying to read up on your notes which are often inaccurate. My GP practice has even managed to lose 50 years of my medical history and have no idea what has happened to .it!Best of luck but the old adage “Doctor knows best” no longer rings true.
