Short sharp random pains

Hi everyone, does anyone else suffer from sharp random pains in the left side of their chest? I had HA nearly 4 years ago, I have 4 stents in left coronary artery, a blocked right coronary artery, I am now 48, since then I have suffered from random sharp chest pains with no apparent trigger, usually feel ok when physically doing things but not always and obviously as no one seems to be able to explain why this is happening I think it makes it worse for me mentally. I get the impression from doctors that this is very unusual to the point they think I am lying about it so if anyone else has experienced this I would love to hear from you so I can at least see I'm not crazy. Thankyou.

I too occasionally get little sharp pains in my left side of chest, which one obviously thinks is connected to the heart. However, I have gone to taking an anti-acid tablet or liquid, when it happens, as I think it may be indigestion/trapped wind in my case. It’s seems to help. I do suffer from acid reflux. It could also be down to muscle strain too. Of course if it keeps happening it’s best to get it checked out & don’t be fobbed off.

Best wishes Ally

I think if you search this forum you will find quite a lot of people who have felt all sorts of "strange" feelings or twinges etc. I myself was convinced a few weeks ago that I could feel a sort of "nipping" sensation where I perceive my stents to be. At Rehab this came up and some of us were convinced we could feel the stents, at least now and again, although the Nurse insisted the Heart does not have any pain sensors in that area. I have recently started to up my swimming levels and have had all sorts of twinges and aches over my sternum area, but I have put these down to muscular reasons, which is the obvious reason anyway. I think, really, we are just mentally tuned to this sort of thing and the slightest thing will put us on alert or even panic mode. Assuming you are reading this, if it were anything serious, you probably wouldn't be? I am sure it will be either muscular or indigestion. Does it feel like your original Angina, and have you tried using the GTN spray? I bet all it will do is give you a headache!

Thanks for sharing and for those who’ve replied this is helpful.I’m 45 and had heart attack in December, fit as a fiddle running marathons and all a big shock.

Since December I’ve had many episodes of ‘nipping’ or pains in the chest. The last two months I’ve been clear of this and feeling loads better but it came back this weekend and hasn’t gone in the last five days even with strong analgesics prescribed previously.

I had a telephone GP appointment yesterday and was prescribed anti acid drug which I hope is going to help me. It’s the r first time one of the medics has suggested this so I hope they are right as these pains on and off ate so frustrating.

I'm sure they're not that unusual. I sometimes get sharp random pains in chest or abdominal area when I've been slouched in the chair or hunched over my laptop. If possible I lie flat for a few minutes and they seem to disappear. My posture could definitely be better!

Hi isobelhannah,Thankyou for your reply, I too get told my posture is poor too apparently always have my head down, it may have something to do with the pains but the sharp pains I'm getting seemed to start following my stress echo so not certain if it's coincidental. I will try lying flat when they happen and see if that helps.

yes i get this also. I think maybe related to the heart damage? How are you these days?
