Sharp pains after stent

Hi all, so tomorrow will be two weeks after my stent was fitted in my LAD artery.

I think I’ve recovered fairly well but just to ask, this morning I went to tip my head upside down to blow dry my hair and as I bent over suddenly, had a sharp pain inside my chest.

Then this evening led on settee, I only moved position and had a sharp pain same place when I moved.

The pain was only there for a second or two then went away.

Has anyone else experienced this? Wondering if it’s the stent, perhaps settling in or something.

Does this resonate with any of you?

Huge thanks, Sal.

Sounds familiar. It should settle soon. I experienced that for several weeks after my procedure. It's hard not to be concerned but it is normal.

Huge thanks for taking the time to respond. It’s hard not to worry when we get these sharp chest pains. It makes sense doesn’t it, the notion that the stent just needs time to settle. Silly me for throwing my head upside down to blow dry it lol! Your response is very reassuring. Thank you 😊

Before the stent goes in they stretch out the artery (pain), and then the stent is anchored into the walls of the stretched artery (more pain), it is quite remarkable we heal as quick as we do.

Take time to get back into your normal routine. Short quick stabbing pains is not symptomatic of a heart attack despite how disconcerting it may be. If it persists though or appears to get worse it may be worth a quick chat with your cardiologist. Try not to stress out though because it can make these things worse.

Had 4 stents put in 4 years ago. Had sharp pains for months after and my Dr. said they can rub against the pericardium nothing to be concerned with!

FYI- I went in for a heart cath 3 weeks ago and after 4 years they said the stents looked like they were put in yesterday!

I have experienced this and it will be the ste t settling in. I had mine fitted in August and now it is all good. You will feel the odd pain but don't worry about it. Just don't over do it.

Thanks David, so you still get the odd twinge now some three years on. As you say, it’s perhaps something I’ll simply get used to. Hadn’t experienced these pains before but everyone’s comments make perfect sense. Stent pain. Huge thanks.

Thanks Paul! It’s reassuring to know others have experienced this too.

I was actually surprised by how painless the angiogram and stent was. Frightened myself before going. I only had one stent. How was it to have four stents fitted? Did the procedure remain painless for you?

I was very surprised. Take care Paul, Sal.

It was surprisingly painless but took a long time and they had to keep me in overnight because they used a lot of contrast and it can make you ill but i was fine and have gone back to work and feel great now i retired for 2 years but got board and i love my job
