Hi, I have myocarditis for the last 10 months. Recently whilst walking (slight incline) I’m fine but later that day I get sharp stabbing pain in my left chest.
Does anyone else get that? Have tried to speak to my cardiologist but he’s so busy he doesn’t return my calls or messages.

At the very least I would be calling 111. At the risk of being alarmist one of the chaps in CCU whilst I was there had been admitted because, as he put it, all he had was a sharp stabbing pain in the middle of the chest. I am constantly being told by the hospital "if in doubt, get checked out" and in no way is it wasting their time.
Hi. I've found talking to the cardiac nurses at the BHF really helpful. It's so trriky with myocarditis to know what's to be expected in terms of pain and what's not.
Any new pains I Think you need to get checked out, eg :ECG and blood tests. I have had perimyocarditis, starting last November. I'm finding after exercise and at the end of the day I still get pains, breathlessness, the pains are sharp but different to before, when it was bad pressures in my chest. I spoke to my cardio on Monday and he now suspects MVD, not the same pathology as my myo but is a consequence of the myo, and which has brought it to the fore now. I really would try to speak to him, even if it means a private appmt. My cardio has now discharged me to the GP😒 unless it doesnt get better then I get referred back, as to see him is a 15 month wait he says unless absolutely urgent!!
thank you that makes sense to me. My cardiologist is private and I still can’t get him to respond! I’ve wondered about MVD before . 15 month wait is ridiculous, probably why the private cardiologists are just as busy!
It's not unusual to feel that way - but if you speak to any health professional, they will tell you it's always better to be safe than sorry and you're not wasting anyone's time by getting checked out... they would rather you came in to be sure.
I went into a&e a good 4 or 5 times to be checked out with chest pains after my discharge, each time they told me I did the right thing. I eventually asked the doctor when should I be concerned as u didn't want to keep doing this (to myself and them). She was very reluctant to tell me when not to come in because of the worry something significant could be missed. She did give some advice however and thankfully I've not felt I had to go back.
