Hello. I had HA on 17th Feb. angioplasty that same day and then 2 stents fitted on weds 19th.
I was released on Thurs 20th and mostly all was ok. but i had some sharp pains right in the centre of my chest. like a numbness / tightness and stabbing from within. not quite painful enough to stop me in my tracks but very concerning considering HA only last week. it’s a very isolated area. i can place my finger in exact point of pain / discomfort. it doesn’t spread. it doesn’t feel right and obviously causes me a lot of concern.
also sometimes have the exact same pain towards left nipple.
I was walking around yesterday and probably overdid it and it brought on a episode. still have residual feeling this morning.
I called 999 sunday evening (feeling seemed to be more pronounced and spread) and am still in hospital. Drs say bloods , ECG and all stats are fine but want to keep me monitored for a few days and run a few extra checks.
Has anyone else experienced this type pain / discomfort? (i also have heart burn - at least I think it is !? and can feel bloated. i assume this is meds’ i’m now on?
I am sure others will be along but I experienced various pains after my stents in July. I did not have a HA and was diagnosed CAD after a stress test. I did have my meds tweaked and a repeat stress test at 4 weeks to rule out cardiac issues and it was decided it was just the stents settling. The pains gradually decreased over six months. I still have the odd twinge day but finally feeling back to normal.
At least your in the right place and are being checked over
After my HA last year and Angiogram I had bloated feeling and wind .On speaking to other patients thay where experiencing the same so hopefully that will soon go .
I had burning chest pain off an on for several months. Cardiac cause was ruled out so I saw GI consultant privately and had stomach meds increased but it didn’t make much difference. This discomfort and the other weird elbow, jaw and chest pains decreased over several months. I found walking everyday helped a lot. Sitting about seemed to make things worse or made me more aware of the twinges.
I had an angiogram and stent in my LDA in December. I had intermittent chest discomfort for about 10 weeks which worried me of course. Cardiac nurse on the rehab course said that "stretch" pains were commonplace after angioplasty, as a result of the trauma caused by pushing something the size of a biro into my arteries. I wish they had warned me of that in the hospital!
i know what you mean. i guess though pains can be different for each person.
it’s only been 10 days now but i’m slowly starting to accept the odd twinge and understand what it is.
i’ve also really reigned in what i’m doing. i think i over did it when first discharged (walking, housework etc) and needed far more rest than i appreciated
forgot to say that the discomfort has pretty well completely vanished now, and I am feeling normal. I too overdid it too quickly, and was rapidly reminded by my chest that I had been in hospital!
Hi, yes a couple days after the stents fitted, the pain was so bad, I had to use gt spray, the doctors at the hospital where great, they said sometimes it can happen. Since then no pain at all. Hope you get better. I did find that the new meds did unset my stomach, but once I had been on for a while I have been fine. Only had to stay on aspirin for 6 mths.
Hi I had seven stents eight years ago and another on New Years Eve. After the first ones I experienced sharp pains and my arm went numb so I was so concerned I went back to hospital several times. Each time ECGs were fine. I also felt I was going to drop dead at any moment and lay awake at night. It took many months to work out it was caused by adverse reactions to the medications. I was suffering from pings from the stents but mainly from reflux and indigestion. After several changes to the medication the reactions settled down. After the rehab course ( make sure you get on one) I joined a local heart group and then a simply heath walking group both helped with my mental health. This side of heart events is as important as the physical recovery. After my stent this year the advice from the hospital was much better the leaflet referred to sharp pains from new stents. I have had a couple but expected them. I am on my new rehab course and looking forward to restarting golf and swimming next month. I wish this forum had existed 8 years ago. You may need to change some of the meds or your body may begin to tolerate them but things will improve.
