Changing time of bisoprolol

I'm currently on bisoprolol 1.25 which I take at 6pm. I want to take it in the morning instead as I get high HR during the day, particularly exercising, walking, stairs etc. I take Perindopril 4mg in morning. What's the best way to switch it to the day? I'm on it for a high HR. Thanks

I am on 5 mg Bisoporol which I take every morning .

Because you're only on a low dose ,

I think if I were you, I would just miss the 6 PM out and take it in the morning .

I'M NOT A DOCTOR, but that is how I would do it.

Hope things work out for you..

TAKE CARE 😊.

You should always consult your Dr first, please don't take advice from this website on medication.

Hi Mollypet. I agree with Stumpy47. Additionally I’m interested in why you want to change to the morning. There’s evidence that shows that blood pressure meds taken in the evening leads to better outcomes so I’m going to ask about moving from morning to bedtime. Apparently changing to evening in my case doesn’t lead to a higher heart rate in the day so it’s possible that changing to morning won’t help lower your HR further. Just a thought. I’m sure your Doc will say it’s not a problem if you want to change but it would be a good idea to check in my opinion.

Thanks. Well I'm on my settee then in bed every night after the beta blocker so my HR is mid 50s. Once I'm out of bed it's between 60 and 130 just walking around and 150 if I go to the gym. Just seems like I need it more during the day rather than at night. Although I understand it's a 24 hr medication.

At the time I was on 1.25MG, since then I increased to 2.5MG and I also did that gradually alternating between the two doses. My doctor has always said to treat the Bisoprolol as a gradual thing so he said never skip a dose completely which is why when I wanted to do morning as apposed to 9 pm at night I just kind of took it 7pm the first night then 4 pm the following night till I got to the time I wanted .

Hi I am on 1.25 and was told to take it in the morning I am also on Ramipril 5mg and Amlodipine 5mg all told to take these in the morning. To change from evening to morning just give GP a ring and ask . They will advise you . They also know what other medication you are taking .

I'm on 1.25 mg bisoprolol also 5mg amlodipine I take them both in the mornings

Bisoprolol is helping reduce your HR during the day when we are most active.

Take it in the morning with your breakfast. Our hearts can do their own resting when we are sleeping.

Hi Wally44. Sorry to disagree. The most recent research shows that that isn’t the case. Taking blood pressure meds before bedtime decreases the rate of cardiac events. I know it’s counter-intuitive. That’s why I’m going to be talking to my Doc about changing from morning to bedtime.

in reply toNorthantsSteve

I read that too.

They say taking drugs in morning comes from being in hospital when everyone is up and about.

I wouldn’t take bisoprolol at night. Insomnia side effect.

I really don’t think it matters when we take medication as long as it’s every 24 hours.

I'm on 7.5 bisoprolol . I decided to change taking it from mornings to evenings and all I got was a daily headache until I switched back 😀

Hi, have you been told that your HR is high as from what you have stated does not sound too high and I assume you have done some of your own home work. rating between mid 50s to 75 I dont think is to bad and I am assuming like me when you walk it's about 90 -100 or maybe a little more. when I take stairs it heads up to 130ish and in excersise its can go up to 160, I am 52 and not been told on a stress test that any of these figures are too bad. so like you it doesn't sound so high.

Thanks for that. I just find I don't need beta blocker evening/overnight as HR is low (50s) then double/ triple during the day.
