Hi, I'm 30 I got out on propononl first of all last September due to panic attacks and ist symptoms, ended up having bad reaction to it (breathlessness) so weaned off of it and had many horrible tachy side effects afterwards until February this year. I got given bisoprolol 1.25mg one a day which seems to help with the symptoms and calm the hr but after many tests with cardiologists now seem to suggest my fast hr is driven by anxiety and I can come off the bisoprolol. Because it's so low they said just to stop or over a week take one every other day. That is easier said than done. Well I tried this and on the first missed day by 2pm sitting down my hr spiked up to 160 and I couldn't even feel my heart beating only found out by feeling my pulse and smart watch. It was so unbearable so I gave in to it and failed coming off. My body I think is very sensitive to meds. And my anxiety also doesn't help me with the negativity thoughts. I'm wondering if there is suggestions of any other ways to come off slower and safer? To avoid this rebound tachy? I really just want to stop it and get it out my system but in a safe slow way...

Help bisoprolol withdrawal?
It could well be anxiety. I came off 1.25mg on GP's recommendation, just packed it in there and then he said there is no need to do it in stages as it is such a low dose anyway. Never had any side effects (and felt fantastic I might add) but we are all different.
I reduced my bisoprolol from 7.5mg a day to 5mg a day. I did it a lot more slowly than the gp said. I have a pill cutter and used that to very gradually over a few months to do it. I had no issues. Good luck
Perhaps you know this medication can reduce heart rate and ate worried emwhen don't take it,1.25mg is nothing g and I was on 2.5mg which I was told to reduce or stop- I split this into 1.25 twice a day then took off 1 so 1.25mg then I halved this(it is small) then stopped it, do you do breathing exercises when anxiety hits as I found that helps
Buy a pill cutter (about £5 or less online) and take half a tablet in the morning and the other half at night for 3 or 4 days ,then just half a tablet in the morning for a similar period and if you are still anxious about it ,half a tablet every second day then stop. I worked in the pharmaceutical industry on heart drugs for years and used this way myself to come off. bisoprolol.
This does sound anxiety driven. I'm only on 1.25 (they wanted to give me more but i have severe medical anxiety about taking new meds) . I had to stop for a day for an ECG stress test. I actually stopped for two days due to a misunderstanding and was absolutely fine. I regularly forget to take them until late afternoon instead of morning, and also feel no issues.
I find it odd that they are weaning you off bisoprolol because your high HR is from anxiety. Betablockers are actually prescribed for anxiety and panic attacks, so it's strange they want you to come off them.
It must be yoru anxiety. I came off bisopralol low dose immediately with no problems at all and I am extremely sensitive to most meds. That was actually my reason for coming off it. I just couldn't tolerate it.
Thanks for that info. I have been on the same dose and my HR came down to 40. Then 3 months later it suddenly went up to >60! At the emergeny docs, the GP told me to check pulse manually and decided it was in the 60s.
So now still on it and awaiting a cardiac reveiw.
