Changing time of taking bisoprolol has worked wonders!

Hi

I was getting really tired during the day and having to have an afternoon nap which I have never had to do! I spoke to my cardiologist who suggested taking it in the evening rather than in the morning and it has worked! I now take 5mg at around 6/7pm and 16mg Candesarten at bedtime and I feel so much better. I did find that taking them both together caused a fitful nights sleep so this routine has worked better.

Definitely worth talking things through with your consultant if you take bisoprolol and are fatigued!

Interesting. I take 5mg in the morning and 2.5mg in the evening. I will ask them about switching them around to see if my afternoon tiredness abates,

I had the same problem when i started taking bisoprolol. I was also taking perindoprul, so was advised to take it at night before bed and it made a huge difference.

Hi, I’ve been talking this in the morning, I take 1.25mg in the morning with an aspirin. And nearly always ending up having a snooze on the settee, around 16.00!I’ve been on it a year now and I feel slowly my energy levels are going down. Will read my leaflet and see if it would make a bit of a difference for me.

Thanks for that. Will try it as consultant has advised doubling my bisoprolol and I am reluctant to do so but I`ll give it a go.x

I didn't when my family doctor told me to double the dose whereas after the bypass OP and successful ablation the heart specialist mentioned I could stop bisoprolol 1.25mg after one year. So I wonder who's right?

Cardiologist is the expert.GPs are wonderful but they can`t know every illness and treatment in depth.x

Yes,that`s what I was afraid of and the trouble is people with no health issues think you`re just lazy.Any Cornish beach in particular?

Porthminster in St Ives. It's where I grew up and it's my 'go to' 'walk in my head' (but not at the height of summer!) As I've moved away now I take myself there in my destressing time.

I love St.Ives but as you say not in the summer.Hope you get to visit regularly. So many people have to leave Cornwall to find work and affordable housing. xx

Hi I’m currently on 2.5 mg bisoprolol which I take in the morning along with the usual cocktail of meds but since using it after my heart attack last year my blood pressure has quite regularly been in the 40s! Dizzy on occasions and feeling out of sorts had the paramedics out advised by them get to see the consultant ( never seen him yet)!!! Hard to get a appointment with own doctor to review my medication especially bisoprolol to maybe lower my dose ! Hopefully I’ll get some answers. Never suffered from high blood pressure in my life not even before my heart attack!

My heart specialist prescribed 2.5mg after OP but sometimes my pressure went below 80 and pulse around 45. So he mentioned that's too much of bisoprolol and halfed it to be taken at evening. For more than a year I feel comfortable with this dose. But, I know, everybody is different. And I am a small person by the way.

I am on 1.25g of bisoprolol and 4mg candesartan once a day. I was told to take them at the same time every day, but other than that it didn't matter when. I had been taking them both after breakfast because it was convenient, but like you, Cornishbeach, I had no energy at all after about 4pm. I switched to taking the bisoprolol at 4.30pm and the candesartan at 7.30pm. It has made the world of difference to my energy levels late afternoon and evening, and there has been no change in my HR and BP readings.

That's very interesting. I was about to attempt to talk to a GP/pharmacist (not easy these days) about this dreadful fatigue that plagues me. I shall try changing the time I take bisoprolol (2.5mg). Plus amlodipine 10mg.

Interesting. Have been on bisoprolol for over 2 years after MI and 2 stents and energy levels reducing together with increasing dizziness and feelings of nausea. Literally just go to work and then get home and on the settee for the night. Know I need to get more active but feeling of fatigue is overwhelming. Take bisoprolol in the morning. Will contact GP and discuss.
