Ibuprofen gel on blood thinners

Hi - I’m on statins, beta blocker, clopidogrel and aspirin post stent.

I’ve been mobile - playing football again. But now have a really painful spot in my foot that’s impacting my exercise (feels like a bruised joint). I want to see if it’s just inflammation and try ibuprofen - but understand it’s a bad mix.

How about the gel rather than pills?

Think that’s any better?

I think you will find it's ok to use the gel sparingly. Check with pharmacist

Hi I’ve been told to never use anything with ibuprofen in... I just take my list of pills and ask these days it’s easier

I've been told (like Jalia) that the topical ibuprofen creams and gels are now considered OK to use sparingly. This info came from a cardiac rehab nurse who had spoken to the hospital pharmacist.

Thanks - I took a gamble and put some on last night so I could run. I’ve a GP appointment in a couple of weeks so will check with them too.

I've used some on my knees occasionally, and haven't collapsed :)

I don't know about if you are on aspirin but on warfarin you are not allowed to use anything containing ibuprofen including the creams and gels

My husband uses the gel on his arthritic hands and his Drs are fine with it.
