Several years ago, I was put on my first ever medication for High Blood Pressure, AMLODIPINE. One of the unwanted side-effects of it was abnormal chest pain on the left side of the chest. I even had to get a GP to check me out, but he said that there was nothing wrong. Eventually, my own GP phased out and stopped the Amlodipine. It had also made me feel tired, and rough. After that, I did not have any chest pains till mid February, 2023, which were later on found out to be caused by "three significantly narrowed coronary arteries", which led to me having a Triple Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Operation, on the 4th of April, 2023.
Has anyone else experienced chest-pains, when on Amlodipine?

MORE AMLODIPINE SIDE-EFFECTS: Another unwanted side-effect that I had when I was on Amlodipine was swollen feet and lower legs. When I had had the Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Operation, the Hospital's doctors wanted to put me on Amlodipine, again, and they very reluctantly agreed not to, after all (I had heard the Ward Round Doctors discussing it, and I even had to interrupt them to make my opinion known. One of them told me sharply that I should not have interrupted their discussion. It then got classed as something that I was allergic to.
I had a mild MI in December … hospitalised for a week and put on Amlopidine. ( I had been on it some years ago and taken off it as it caused awful ankle and foot oedema.) This time was the same. My GP has taken me off it. Been off it a week and ankles are still very oedematous - it’s a pain. I’ve not had chest pain, but chest discomfort.
I find all the heart meds make me feel tired and rough like you, but have not had your health issues. Sorry I could not be more helpful to you. I wish you the best. 🙂
I had terrible swelling of my ankles and leg pains with it. GP had taken me off it some years ago and flagged it as an issue on my records. This was honoured when I was in hospital.
I’m on it and don’t like it. I have a feeling of discomfort in the middle of my chest but no pain. It gives me insomnia, anxiety which makes my breathing fast and two days ago my feet were swollen.
I’ve been taking it for about two weeks and I think I’m starting to really have insomnia I’ve been unable to sleep well for about two days. I try to go to sleep but I’m just right back up and when I do I go for mine and hour and a half and then I’m up for a very long time. I didn’t have this issue taking lisinopril so I may ask to go back to it. I’m at the ER now hoping they can help me out.
I’ve been on amlodipine. Generic amlodipine. The one thing I have discovered is not all generics are the same. The generic I’ve been on for 4 years has caused no side effects.
