We have a rather strange weather forecast over the next few days with 22/23 being forecast today and Sunday but 31 tomorrow - hence the sandwich!
Just a reminder to all us hearties that it is best to avoid exercising in the heat of the day as BP and anti-anginal meds drop BP and hot weather can drop it further potentially making you feel quite unwell. If outside between about 10:00 and 16:00 use sun protection as appropriate. Also remember that pavements and roads can be very hot if taking the dog out - best done early and late to avoid burnt paws.

I'm off to the races at Doncaster, it's an evening event so I will keep out of the sun, Saturday weather will peak at 29, too much for my delicate skin. I was in hospital last weekend could do with the change of scenery and still on the antibiotics x I'll try and win enough to take everyone out but dont fancy my chances. I dont drink so no need to worry on that score. X Sheena
Yes, I should also have added keep well hydrated unless your fluid intake is medically restricted. Both coffee and alcohol are dehydrating so best limited in really hot weather.
I dont drink alcohol any more because it makes me feel like I'm on the waltzes, I will stay hydrated and water is free from a jug with ice cubes hopefully I've covered all basics, even got a pashmina for when it cools off. X Sheena

Not quite heatwave here on The Wirral, 24 degrees with a moderate breeze guesting to 28 MPH, which is deceptive as you could end up frying in this without knowing it as the breeze stops you from realising you're getting burnt
I actually prefer Vegemite to Marmite having first tasted it on my one and only visit to Australia. When I walked in Kings Canyon it was 45C but not too uncomfortable as zero humidity. 35C in Cairns with 100% humidity was far worse. If I am ever lucky enough to go again I might head for the cooler south.
We’re on a river cruise on the Danube n Eastern Europe at the moment & I can vouch for the fact that it is extremely hot here. The temperatures are at a level they usually have in August which is why we booked June.! I have had to be very careful if we are going on any excursions & have curtailed one like today! The feet & ankles swell as well in this heat, it’s been in the mid 30sC.
I’ll be happy to get back to 23 on the Wirral, Spirit of the Floyd.
I'm sure you will be, it's hard work doing excursions in the heat there is in Europe at the moment, but the forecast is back down to 17 from Monday forward.
Just did acclimatisation for tomorrow! Thought I would save on petrol (car has climate control) and parking and use bus pass. Think temperature was 10 degrees higher than outside as shirt stuck to me. Treating myself to an iced coffee but £5 better off! 😁
Couldn`t understand why I`d become so heat intolerant and spent last year`s heatwave lying exhausted on sofa.Now I can blame my heart and lungs rather than age! I know,it`s probably both but I hate being told!
Last year's heatwave started just as I was sent home after my bypass. For weeks I felt I was going nowhere (fluid from electrolyte imbalance in addition to anemia not helping). The day I was discharged back to the care of my local hospital I walked in perspiring in 30+ and stepped out as the rain came down and the temperature dropped around 10 degrees. I felt that I started making progress from that day!
What heatwave!! It’s a balmy 23 here in the Northeast no sun just cloud with an easterly breeze (reducing the ‘feel’ of the heat by a couple of degrees) sat out about to put my fleece on! For those in need of cooking down I discovered last year some cool towels and cool bandanas (cool in the sense of lower temperatures!). You wet them then pull them sharply and they are very cooling on the skin. Really worked for me last year in keeping me coping with the hot weather. That might help for those further South! Sure it hit the predicted 33C. My car was registering an outside temperature of 35C and has always seemed accurate. Inside set to a cool 17C. Think I will chill a bottle of Chardonnay and enjoy a glass tonight.
There's a 5 second rule for dogs. Put your hand on the tarmac for 5 seconds. If it's too hot for you it's too hot for your dog and it goes without saying they should NEVER be left in cars even with the windows open. Any passer by is allowed to smash your car windows to rescue an animal in distress providing they tell the police what they are doing.
MIne went out at 9, up on the moors , well off tarmac. Breeze kept it comfy. Since then she's just laid in front of my fan. All I've done was hang out a hrow and pick a few strawberries; too hot even for that. PLants will have to wait till this evening for watering. Thankfully the sky is grey which is keeping it down a bi t. This is the first really hot day I've seen since my heart attack and I'm not coping well.
I'm the same. Heat just drains all energy from me. My idea of a perfect holiday is Iceland or Norway although I was absolutely fine in California because it's a dry heat. It's the humidity here that saps you. My husband doesn't even notice it. He'll get in a roasting car with the windows shut. I'm sitting in front of a fan dripping.
Coincidentally, like yourself, I too was fine in California 12 years ago. You're right - humidity is the horrible factor. I doubt I'll ever visit Thailand! We had thunderstorms tonight. Completely cleared the air. I sat here with all thewindows open and the rain hammering down. Twas wonderful. Take care.
I’m lying in bed in my pj’s (I know TMI) with the fan on hoping I get some sleep. I blame many things on my op and meds but truthfully I think it’s too blinking hot at night. I need air con! 🥵
I have to say that was the weirdest weather blip I have ever encountered - a one day heatwave. Going up for a few days by a few degrees is not uncommon but 10 degrees for a day! After a sticky night I was out early yesterday and had to go back in for a lightweight jacket as it felt cold in just a shirt! Whilst I coped better than a year ago I think me and really hot weather are now in the past!
