Summer really seems to have arrived but hot weather can make many of us hearties struggle. I find once temperatures go over 25C despite drinking more my BP may drop leading to headache and tiredness. In the past I have discussed this with my GP and there is no easy solution. There is a recently updated (last month) BHF article on coping with the heat here:
Hi michael. Only just awake so wondered for a minute why you had to watch your doctor (called max) this afternoon! 😏 Already too hot here in wales, stay cool everyone. X
Was totally gutted by result! Max's 51G impact was worrying as that could rupture an aorta. As my go to team (but making progress now) I hoped Charles would win for Ferrari but it was not to be. ☹️☹️☹️
My GP has a name not dissimilar to a Bond villain. I think the odd patient had a blip and uses it! 😭
Weird! Just before I read this I was asking my husband who on earth actually likes this kind of weather? Now I know! Stay just the right amount of cool for you. X
Thank you, I have just come back from the swimming pool. 🏊♀️😎🆒️
Always do, always take 2x750ml bottles + on longer ride a 2ltr water bladder with me :-)Never have a prob with fluid intake, seems natural to increase/decrease as needs must!
Obviously, I have no restrictions (thank god).
You don't realise (well maybe you do) how much harder your body has to work and how much fluid you need to take on board. My wife got in a bit of a state while doing a long walk in the lake district, we got talking to a guy in a walking shop and he worked out how much water we should have drank for the route we did in the hot weather, it was more than you can really carry. Personally I don't bother even trying to run in this, I don't think that there is any real benefit to be honest, looking forward to a swim later!
I’ve got a niggling calf problem from running. I’ve just had 2 weeks off from running to rest it and went for a steady 6km this morning and low and behold I’ve pulled it again. Gutted.

Get yourself to the swimming pool.

Yes I swim everyday in the evening, but for me there’s nothing better than a morning run though before work 🙂
So to clarify, don’t walk in the hot weather and don’t run? I’m also menopausal and having hot flushes night sweats etc . I loath the summertime normally but even more so
I am just out of a cold shower , dressed and tried and failed to put a bit of make up on ,, currently sitting under a high powered fan on one side and in front of me a dyson cold filter fan . I still have sweat running down my face
😂
We have one of those as well my husband American so he insisted. We live in Scotland and I told him our aircon here is to open the windae. 😂😂😂
I've actually got my sun lounger - first time it has seen the light of day since probably 2018. Temp on the sunny Wirral at 14.00 is 25 deg feels like 29.
Morning. Totally agree with you. I had a mitral repair 3 and a half years ago and although, fully, recovered I always struggle with the heat, always have done all my life. thank goodness we dont live in western canada or the US. I just get up early, get everything done, then its Siesta time until about 3pm. Catch up on some tv I've missed fom the previous evening, when I was gardenning or down the allotment. Take care
I'm originally from the north of England (so used to cold weather 😊) but retired to South West Turkey several years ago. It currently in the mid 40's and likely to continue until at least the end of october. (it's even 35 during the night 😲) I'm doing my best to keep cool, gallons of water, iced coffee - decaff of course, staying under shade on the roof terrace during peak heat, where a have a breeze from the sea, cool showers and aircon in every room. Still finding palpitations are more troublesome so doc has recommended upping my meds to see how that goes 🤞🏼
Move to NE England! It is rarely a problem here! I was just looking through some of my 20 years old summer clothing and thinking it is still good for a while longer.Homemade elderflower cordial is very refreshing in the heat.
