The BHF has a web page about hot weather and your heart:

bhf.org.uk/informationsuppo...

it includes a link to a "Fluid restriction for heart failure (HF) in hot weather"

You can always ring the BHF nurses for advice on 0300 330 3311

That's why they say people with heart conditions should not go in the sauna.

Thank You :-)

Hope you are keeping well :-) x

Good to have you back with us, and your valuable comments and advice. Have been thinking about you recently, how did your last op go? Are you able to wear your prosthesis once again?Hope you are able to keep cool where you live? I have 2 good fans, and keep the curtains closed as the sun moves round.

Talking of prosthetics, my one for my left total hip replacement dislocated for the 4th time 6 weeks ago! Seeing consultant surgeon tomorrow to discuss a revision. Don’t know whether I can face another op!

Since my husband died 8 years ago, I’ve had 2 major back surgeries and 2 hip replacements as well as open heart surgery. Yes I have a lot to thank the nhs for, and family for supporting me, and as my son said to me, ‘ Mum your glass is half full, not half empty’ I try to remember that!

P.S. An additional point. If the temperature gets to 33/34C and above do not expose bare skin to the direct blast of a fan. It may cause severe drying and wind burn which will be even more serious on the lower limbs for anybody with PAD (Peripheral Arterial Disease).

Very interesting post { as always }

I seem to be ok at the moment, the feet in a bucket of water { sorry Michael } and closing the curtains have certainly helped, wet towel around the neck and letting the shower water evaporate off me instead of my usual rub down with a course towel.

I apologise if anyone has a metal picture of me in that situation now !

Thanks! That was a useful link - about 20 mins ago after I went to a load of linked pages.Hope you ( and everyone else) are coping with the heat. I'm just going to water my pots and probably myself and the cat with a bit of luck.
