I’m just wondering how many people were put on this and their experiences if it?

Hi Alison

I’ve not been on it but know someone who has for antiarrhythmic reasons. They said they had problems getting to sleep lost their taste and it made them feel sick . Hope you are not experiencing these side effects !!!

I’m sure there’s lots of people on this site who have been on it and can discuss their experiences first hand

Hope your ok your in my thoughts all the time but didn’t want to bombard you with messages as Amanda told me she had had an email from you saying you were doing well when I had my 6 week review but if you need to chat I’m there for you

Take care

Pete x

I just started it on Friday and haven’t had any immediate issues. I’m also on Atenolol and Digoxin (+ Rivaroxiban). I expressed my concerns to my EP and he said he’ll only keep me on it for a couple of months. He said we need an aggressive approach to get my arrhythmias under control. I had an ablation 10 weeks ago but have had very bad inflammation. Most bad side effects from Amiodarone are from longer term use. I was warned by both the doctor and pharmacist about staying out of the sun though.

I live in Australia so we are heading into summer and we have an active outdoor lifestyle- walking, cycling, kayaking, boating, bbqs .... 🌞😎

Oooh - that must be more tricky staying out of the sun. Over here we have sleet forecast and the sun rarely peeps through!

Good luck!

I take 200mg of Amiodarone Hydrochloride once a day before bed. I'm experiencing no side effects at all.

Many people worry about side effects from medication. I'm sure in some cases it's justified, but by and large I suspect the concerns are overdone, or symptoms get blamed on medication that are actually totally unrelated.

Remember, there are also possible side effects to NOT taking Amiodarone, and these include strokes, heart attacks and premature death!

Hi - yes you are absolutely right! How long have you been on it ?

I'm four weeks post a triple bypass and I started taking Amiodarone immediately after the operation. I understand I'm likely to be taken off it before long as it's looking like it's nearly done its job.

Hi

I’ve been on 200mg for 8 months... no side effects and to be honest I feel better than I have in ages
