I've had very bloodshot eyes before as well as gums bleeding like mad for no reason the second I start brushing. I'm on Warfarin. Currently getting lots of small bruises about as big as 5 and 10p pieces on my thighs and boobs even though my INR is in range. The bloodshot episodes always seem to be in the hay fever season even though I don't have hay fever. I've been on the drug 6 years.
Yes I am on warfarin and had a spontaneous corneal bleed in one eye. - looked like I had been in a fight and lost ! It really looked quite dramatic but there was no pain or visual disturbances. I immediately phoned NHS24 who adviced me to attend A+E. So off I went at midnight on a Friday night for a three hour wait then had to try and do eye tests at 3am. No treatment or other tests but the doctor said that I had done the correct thing.
I saw my optician last week and she say that as long as I have no pain or visual disturbances I can go to the opticians who will check me out. The blood took less than a week to dissolve and disappear.
Hope this helps and your eye settles down soon. Best wishes Mary
Morning Rob..find your latest post interesting as I'm typing this with 1 very red eye which started yesterday.. the blood thinner I take is clopidogeral 75mg.. have been on these for the past 9months therefore don't know if related to my eye being inflamed.
Odd.
Similar thing happened to me. I went to GP and it was put down to high blood pressure, so I had a change of medication and all is now well. Been on warfarin for just over a year now, INR has been stable throughout. I do bruise easily, I accept it's a side effect of warfarin.
