Anyone going on holiday with TUI up to 30th June?

I know in the scheme of things this probably isn't that important, however, I'm due to go on holiday on 3rd May to Greece. I'm almost certain that it won't go ahead, either because to FCO will extend the recommendation yesterday to not fly, or Greece will extend their instruction for seasonal hotels to remain closed beyond the current day of 30th April - if either of these take place, I will get my money back.I'm also in the Social Distancing group so either way won't be going.

I've just spotted on their website the following announcement:-

"We would like to give those due to travel after the 16 April the additional freedom and peace of mind when it comes to travelling in the future, which is why from today we will be offering our travel promise. From 17 March 2020 if you have an existing TUI, Marella Cruises, First Choice or TUI River Cruise package holiday booking travelling on or before 30 June 2020 you can amend for free to any holiday on sale. You can do this up to seven days before your original departure date. Please refer to booking terms and conditions for more information."

Clearly they are expecting large numbers of holidays to be cancelled, so would need to refund monies and are therefore basically offering customers to chance to take the money they've paid and move it to a different holiday without penalty

I think this is happening across the board - our son and family were due to fly from Luton to Aberdeen yesterday but have been able to rebook for early June at no extra cost.

They've cancelled flights up to 16th April I believe I'm due to go with them on 19th to Lanzarote but that may get cancelled too apparently some haven't been cancelled like to Caribbean.I'm not sureto even go on hol till later in year when this all should of blown over cause also even though got travel insurance been told if go against govt advice it's void.

I have a friend who works at TUI and we booked a holiday to Mexico on 29th June which 99% will not go ahead. It will probably be cancelled and all monies will be refunded. But my friend said I must not cancel the holiday and wait for TUI to cancel it nearer the time. They are just dealing with the thousands of refunds for April holiday bookings, then they will process May bookings refunds in April then June bookings in May etc... hope that helps.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but I'm in touch with greeceMost days. It's possibleThe travel ban could be lifted but I say unlikely.Greece hasNot the resources to deal with an outbreak effectivelySo Strict lockdown conditionsAre in place. You need to send an SMS when you leave the house for only one of 7 valid reasonsOr carry valid paperwork everytime. All socialising is banned-The penalty is €150 Issued immediately on the spot. All restaurants and taverns and barsAnd all shopsExcept for those deemed to be nonessential are closed.

Hi

I've already given up on May, I'm in contact with a few people living on a few of the islands and the mainland and get regular emails and phone calls about the situation. As you say Greece does not have the resources, especially on the islands, to cope with a mass outbreak which is why they so quickly put the country in lock down. I know that quite a number of hotels were badly hit by the failure of Thomas Cook last year, so this is a real body blow for them and the whole tourism sector.

The FCO I believe has today extended the flight ban which was due to expire on 16th April to ‘indefinitely’
