How to reduce Calcium Score ??

I was given a CAT scan that was cut short with the message "Cannot continue with Calcium Score of 1829"! . After other scans I was given a CABG. I am unaware of how a CABG reduces the Calcium Score of the gunge in the unchanged arteries. I am 75 and have always been fit and active and had a good diet. Any ideas.

I am 72 and had a Calcium score test which gave me a 600 number - which puts me in the 75th percentile for my age group. My understanding is that the hardening of our arteries is caused by calcification of softer plaques within the arteries and cannot be reduced. The calcification of our arteries is the sum total of our lifetime and all we can do is to attempt to prevent further calcification with lifestyle changes and reduction of cholesterol

You are right there. Calcification can occur in the arteries (not just heart - carotid are a fairly common one), heart valves, kidney (stones), gall bladder (stones again), etc. Despite improving medical care I suspect this calcification will make 130+ unachievable for many generations!

Not sure I understand what your last sentence means. I have been found to have calcification in my heart and carotid arteries - so far I am (almost) symptomless and haven't got any life threatening blockages in the arteries as yet. When I say "almost", just recently I have lost most of my sight in my right eye. This has come about from CRVO (Central Retinal Vein Occlusion) - a blockage of the central Retinal vein probably caused by calcification n the Central Retinal artery. Apparently quite common as we age - I was hoping to eventually have a big heart attack out on the road sometime when I am running but never thought of going blind!!!
