My husband had massive heart attack last April and triple heart by pass last November he’s never drank alcohol or smoked, he walks a couple times a week 2/3 mile I know he needs to step up this regime , the drs have said his calcium is low and given him D3 tablets I’m worried that this is going to contribute to clogging up his arteries as I know we need K2and for absorption into our bones and not into our arteries
Anyone take k2 on here with medication he takes aspirin bisoprol find it a minefield 😞
I take K2 and D3 tabs combined
Thanks

Hi, I am so sorry to hear about your husband. I take vitamin D due to being deificient and not had any issues, I also take tregralor, bisporol, aspirin, ramipril and a statin and not had any issues that omeprezole hasn't cured. I dont take K2 though so now worried I should but feel I take enough tablets as it is. Not sure if this helps but sending wishes of good luck to you both
Thank u for ur kind wishes my husband takes Tregralor too and dispr and aspirin will be coming of tregrelor in sept drs say I’m wondering whether to give him k2 or magnesium x
If you have concerns you should really ask any questions about medications or prescribed supplements direct to the prescribing health professional, in you case perhaps your GP.
I take aspirin & bisoprolol (HA 2012). I've also taken 2,000iu Vit D and separately only 50mcg K2-Mk7 for the past 18 months (since coeliac dx). I use a magnesium spray on my legs too.
I asked my GP about it, but the response was "I don't know anything about it". I hope your GP is better informed, but I doubt it. I did a lot of reading.
Just a thought but do you include leafy green veg like broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower etc in your diet regularly? If so, you’re getting vitamin k. I know there are different schools of thought as to whether we need supplements or not so perhaps a chat with a dietitian or nutritionist would help.
I asked this question to my cardiologist and he didn’t have a clue. They really don’t know about supplements. I was asking specifically about k2 because I take anticoagulant Clopidrogrel .. and from what I can find k1 helps clot blood k2 helps move calcium into the bones esp if you take higher amounts of d3. I don’t want to be taking k2 if it will affect blood thinning in any way. I wish someone in the medical profession could confirm one way or an other.
Vit.K has blood-thinning properties, and it is usually contra-indicated for those on Warfarin and/or who have blood-clotting issues. Such people were also advised against consuming too many of the K-containing foods, although recent thinking appears to be that if they are eaten on a regular basis, that consistency prevents an adverse reaction, unlike the sudden ingestion of a high-dose supplement. Always check with your medical advisors, though, but there is plenty of well-researched medical info online.
I would be very wary of taking any sort of magnesium without seeking medical advice first. My neighbour ended up in ICU because someone suggested he take magnesium, he didn't need it and was slowly poisoning his body!!
That example you gave is just an advertisement for the sale of a product and not unlike all the other spam you might inadvertently click on. As it has a commercial interest only I would advise people to take it with a grain of salt. Any information can and should be obtained from a medical professional and not an entreprenour who will make many claims to sell their products. I see this is your first and only post??.
