Hi everyone just a quick question perhaps someone out there can provide a answer? I’ve just been moved up to 100mg entresto and forgot to ask bhf nurse if I can stop taking bisoprolol as I believe entresto is also a diuretic, obviously I will ask bhf nurse on phone tomorrow if I can remember to, but any advice Would be most gratefully accepted.
Entresto : Hi everyone just a quick... - British Heart Fou...
Entresto
Neither Entresto nor Bisoprolol are diuretics. Water retention (e.g. odema) would be treated by diuretics under the guidance of your GP.
Entresto is a combination therapy to treat BP and heart failure. Bisoprolol is a beta blocker used to treat BP. It also reduces heart rate useful for a number of heart conditions. You need to talk to your GP before changing any dosage.
The wife just informed me it’s not bisoprolol I take in morning (I take that on a night) it’s buminatine (not sure if that’s how you spell it) anyway between that and my prostate and Entresto having some kind of diuretic properties I can’t last long between pee’s especially in morning. Many thanks and take care.
You have my sympathy. A friend has mitral valve and prostate problems. Retired just over a year ago to replace work with endless appointments!
I take entresto and still have to take carvedilol (a beta blocker) as well as a couple of diuretics, so I imagine you are supposed to be on both, but definitely ask your heart nurse asap.
I am on the max dose of Entresto and Bisoprolol. My heart failure nurse did say that she will remove Furosemide (diuretic) from my prescription soon as there is a small diuretic effect from Entresto which she feels is probably sufficient for me as I don't tend towards too much fluid retention. We are all different and should always take health professionals advice. Hope the Entresto has as good effect on you as it did on me
