Hi everyone I was just wondering if anyone takes both entresto and warfarin and found that it has effected INR levels. I have been on Warfarin coming up for 25 years started to take entresto 4 months ago and although my INR has always been volatile, since taking entresto it seems to be staying at the lower range no matter how much it is tweeked. I understand medication can effect Warfarin but I was hoping some-one has had a similar experience!!
Entresto/Warfarin: Hi everyone I was... - British Heart Fou...
Entresto/Warfarin
Hey I take the lowest dose of entresto and I take warfarin. I don't have any issues, my inr is normally in range. On the odd occasion I will got high or it will drop but generally stays in range. Question it with your heart nurse or the anticoagulant nurse x
I take both entresto and warfarin for years. I haven’t had a problem in fact I have a problem keeping my INR on the lower side. My doctor is planning on taking me off warfarin to edoxaban. I’m a bit nervous as I think if it’s not broken.
Hi Deejay
Thank you for replying I would be the same although you do not need to go so often for checks with the new blood thinners I believe, I have metal valves no chance of me going on them at this moment in time. I have had a very stressful year my hubby had a heart attack in March and had to stop in hospital for 5 weeks waiting for a triple by-pass so I am thinking that might also be the reason, things are sent to try us!!
So sorry to hear about your hubby I hope he gets his triple bypass soon. I don’t know much about valves and bypasses only what I’ve read on here but it does sound a lot to deal with. I don’t know how true it is but they told me I won’t have to be checked on edoxaban. If that’s true it wouldn’t be a problem for you either. I think it’s just the annual checks. As it is my kidney function as dropped to 39 so I’m being checked by my Gp 3 monthly. I have no function in my right arm for 4 years so bloods are taken from my left which is now causing my veins to hurt after. These things are definitely sent to try us.
Hi you have been through the mill my hubby had his by-pass whilst in hospital they would not let him out after having his heart-attack he had the op end of April. Because I have metal valves I cannot have the new thinners when I asked it was because a licence had not been granted at the time not sure if that is still the case
I was put on warfarin because my kidney function was in the 40s and they felt the new ones wouldn’t be good fo me. Now my function is in 30s they want to put me on it. They said the new ones can accommodate low kidney functions now so I will give it a try.
Hi Deejay. Do they think Entresto affected your kidneys? All the best.
No they think the warfarin did after years of taking it. As soon as I stopped taking it a blood test 4 weeks after revealed my kidney function had gone up. I’m having another blood test soon so I will see how I’m getting on with both ezetimibe and edoxaban as I started them both around the same time.
I am on apixiban and entresto without any interactions.. is apixiban the same ?
Hi Niffum. I have been on Warfarin for 17 yrs. and Entresto for a little over a yr. I am on the middle dose and at some point will try the higher dose. I’ve never been told that it affects INR. All the best.
