Hi Granthamgeezer, I have LV imparement also with a EF of 25%. I take Entresto too but don't have any side effects. As Lowerfield_no_more says the info you need will be on the info sheet enclosed with the tablets. Since joining this forum I've learned that EF can be improved so I'm eating healthy and keep fit. Keep well.
Cough and loose stools but they got less frequent with time. It seems to be very effective so it's probably worth a few minor side effects if it works for you. Best wishes! 😊
My husband has been taking it for almost a year and no side effects. He did have side effects from his previous medication, Ramipril, which didn’t help him very much. He was so out of breath he could barely get dressed before he was swapped to Entresto. Now he’s able to do everything he needs to. We visited Lisbon at the weekend and walked everywhere, it is very hilly but he was well able! Everyone is different though so listen to your body and if you notice anything abnormal contact your GP.
Hi there, Entresto 24/26mg user since 2019, no issues. I am on 33%(ish) EF and was on Ramipril at the time. It was suggested as a better option and I was supposed to end up on the highest dose, however my blood pressure was too low so it was decided that's my dosage. I never felt any side effects from it. All good. And good luck to you.
I'm on Entresto high dose 97/103mg and had a persistent cough at first, but this has since subsided. EF went from 10% to 45-50% in 9 months. I hope you will continue to see improvements. The side effects usually settle down after a while which is what I had with Bisoprolol
I just wanted to say that is great progress. I was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy back in June 2023 with an EF of 20-25%. I'm curious to know at which stage do you find out this progress in numbers? Since my initial Cardiologist assessments I have only visited the local outpatients HF nurses clinics. Routine bloods, weight and ECG are performed but that's it, I don't really get any feedback in numbers which would be a real boost to see improvement.
Hi I’ve been on the same dose as you for more than 5 yrs now. My EF was 10% but a year ago after echo I was told it had climbed to 23%. I couldn’t tolerate a higher dose, I kept feeling dizzy. They are trying to see if I can try the higher dose again but since the other added meds my blood pressure is usually quite low.
I’m on Entresto with other tablets low dose and a pacemaker and I’ve just had a consultation with my consultant. I’ve gone from 35% to 45% pumping of the heart so he is going to increase the dose of Entresto. I haven’t had any side effects from it except I have low blood pressure and Entresto does lower your blood pressure so I’ve got to do it gradually until they reach my limit. I was having dizzy spells and syncope episodes before I started tablets but I don’t get this now and I’ve improved considerably with the pacemaker. It’s supposed to be one of the best drugs for heart failure so try to keep taking it. If you have low blood pressure and symptoms talk to your GP or Cardiologist. They said I can come off aspirin, Famotidine & statins now as I don’t fit the criteria now I have a pacemaker and my cholesterol has always been normal and the angiograms I’ve had say I don’t have build up of plaque or narrowing in my veins he said it’s just my heart that’s got a fault and the pacemaker is sorting it out. He told me I had no option but to have a pacemaker and that Entresto is so important to take it’s such a good drug. Everyone is different and individual so good luck and I just recommend next time you speak with your. Cardiologist have lots of questions written down as he’s the one that knows all about your situation. If your symptoms are from low blood pressure then talk to him about it you might be on a higher dose than you can tolerate. X
Thanks everyone for your replies to my Entresto question. I had dishes and backache side effects. Not sure if the backache was caused by the Entresto but it seems to have cleared now. Thanks again everyone. Myles.
I've been on Entresto for 3 years, the only side effect is low blood pressure. As there are 3 dose levels it's what suits you best. I was on the middle dose but after a bout of flu in January 2023 it was reduced to the lowest dose and I'm still on it. My last Echo and ECG showed my heart function had improved and EF now at 50%. It's one of the 'Gold Standard' of meds for HF.
I have Heart Failure when diagnosed started 49/51 along with a cocktail of other meds slowly increased to max dose 97/103. Yes it was a shock 9 days after my 49th Birthday. My HF was 20 -25% but 4 months after its increased to 32%. So I think it's worth putting up with any side effects until they settle.
I too was on entresto and tolerated it for about four weeks as I had the most awful itching heart nurse said it was probably the coatings on pills rather than the medicine. I still have two boxes left and do intend to try again as it is the gold standard for heart failure apparently
My husbands ejection fraction was 33% last August after his stroke . He hasn’t been offered another ablation as yet or a pacemaker . His meds seem to have stabilised his heart rate so I’m hoping his ejection fraction will improve . How long ago was your ejection fraction examined and do you think yours can improve with the pacemaker ? Thankyou
Hi. I had my pacemaker 3 years ago. My ejection fraction measured about 6 months ago as 30% Been taking Entresto for 6 weeks and due another echo in a few months to see if Entresto has improved it. Cardiologist said that having a pacemaker in the right ventricle can impair the left ventricle hence its reduction to 30%. Go figure.?
I'm on the Entresto middle dose 49/51 and haven't had any side effects. I have an LV imparement too - EF 17% but no obvious side effects like breathlessness, feeling tired or any aches and pains. I've had a lot more energy being on it and the heart consultant had suggested going on the top dose and the possibility of a pacemaker! I told him I wasn't ready for this yet as I felt so good physically, so what was the point of going on the top dose or having a pacemaker if I was already feeling good? He agreed with me so unless I get any of the severe heart symptoms I am keeping on the medication I'm on now and if any problems arise I'll just have to ring him and he will probably put me onto the top dose or a pacemaker.
This is my second year of severe heart problems but have accepted the consequences and have put my trust in the consultant - my life is too short to worry about the future but I can appreciate that some people are a lot younger than me and therefore worry about what the future holds for them. I'm an 80 year old. Try not to worry too much and trust your consultant. I know it's not easy and I hope you manage to sort your problems out.,
Hi I've been on Entresto for about 2,5 years.Tritrated from the lower level dose to the highest. My LV performance has improved dramatically (Cardiologist said my heart has remodelled its self). Feel tons better. If I have side effects I'm not aware of then.
is entresto a calcium channel blocker . My husband is on bisoprolol and has just been put on digoxin also . He has AF and heart failure aged 65. I’m hoping his ejection fraction will increase in time as it has only been eight months since his stroke which was caused by AF.
Hi Jackie. My stroke was caused by AF and high blood pressure. So I had a pacemaker fitted in 2021. Now on Entresto which I was told is Ramaprils big brother. Not sure if it's a beta blocker. I am 68. I wish your husband good luck.
