Hi, My wife had a heart attack & cardiac arrest in June. Does anyone have experience of acquiring (worldwide) travel insurance with these conditions and associated medication? Recommendations most welcome! Many thanks.

Hi Martpad - there's been a few threads recently on insurance which you might find helpful: healthunlocked.com/bhf/post.... I'm sure others will jump in with their recommendations.

Hope this helps!

There are a number of companies who will insure you and your wife. You can actually get quotes through some of the comparison sites and the BHF site also lists a number of companies who will be 'sympathetic'. A word of warning however, be prepared for some big numbers compared to pre heart attack days - £300 was very much a low end starting point for me (triple bypass some 6 weeks ago).

John Lewis were the cheapest company for me.

I tried all the specialist companies, some refused and others quoted ridiculous amounts. JL were not cheap but definitely the best.

Hope this is of help to others! On further recommendation from a ‘Cruise Buddy’ and fellow heart attack victim, I finally went with MIA Travel Insurance. Not by any means the cheapest for worldwide annual multi-trip – ex USA, Caribbean, Canada & Mexico (£450). However, they did listen and asked for the names of prescribed medication and tailored as best they could the insurance.

Thanks once again for your help.
