My wife and i going on a European cruise in August .I am strugling with insurance , i have been diagnosed with very slight right ventricle hypertrophy .A lot of insurance company's havnt got it on there declared options box .Been informed by one of them to declare hypertrophy cardiomyopathy. I work for nhs and speaking to a heart nurse her advise was not to declare this as this is not my condition. Not more check up planned and no symptoms. Apart from slight change in my ECG.

Any good travel insurance out there or anybody with similar problems.

Thanks

Good news then . Your wife might wish to consider joining The Women's Institute forthwith. They have a scheme that is available for members and their husbands. They will cover you worldwide if required, as long as your doctor is willing to say you are fit to fly and you are not suffering from a terminal CONDITION. Your wife joins and signs you up. As long as you do it before you are 74 they will renew automatically. £42 a year and lots of recipes. You might get the odd cake and days out as well

Just to clarify it is £42 to join the WI - you still have to buy the insurance..

There is a pinned post about travel insurance to the right. If you are both 55 or over StaySure are good - not the cheapest but good cover.

Once you have a condition it is often better to speak to a person than go down a ticklist - the underlying algorithms are often quite crude!

I would say always declare everything! Especially if you’re cruising. AllClear is good(expensive but good cover)

I get mine through A La Carte Global Health Insurance EUR, I used them last year when we were on a cruise and again for our impending cruise. Fortunately never had to actually invoke the policy. We pay about €115 for 10 days plus another €39 for my conditions (I have an ICD and various other small heart problems). A considerable rise on last year as I have now reached 70. The joys of getting older......not!

Wow! We are with StaySure and it doesn't cost us anything like that for annual travel insurance.

We cruise too and use Insurancewith - as well as my heart condition my husband has cancer. We have found them to be cheaper than other companies but always phone them rather than using their online application.

After I was turned down by 42 travel. Insurance companies I joined my local WI. Then joined their group Open Travel Insurance Co. It cost £325 for anuual multitrip worldwide policy for 1 person. I'm not sure if you'd be covered by same fee or if have to pay extra for spouse. I have apical hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. Symptom of breathlessness cured by medication. Good luck & enjoy your holiday. Clare

We have insurance with Avanti travel, they cover criuse, short and long haul , my husband has 7 stents, a pacemaker and a defibrillator, and is 2 and a half years free from his heart attack that started a series of events.

They are very easy to talk to, and you can choose the grade of cover.

We tried a lot of other insurances, most wouldn’t touch him, only a few would and premiums were extortionate xx

Try Insurancewith as they beat all of the other "so called" Insurance specialists who claim to do good deals for people with medical conditions. You are better speaking to an Agent over the telephone rather than completing their online application form. They were very efficient and helpful, I also checked out their background and they are a well established and financially stable company who also use Insurers who are equally sound. If you are not internet savvy then their telephone number is 020 3553 8260 or use the weblink below.
