There is a tendency for insurance companies to decline to offer any type of travel insurance in the immediate aftermath of a heart attack, they tend to like to see if you are stable in the 6-9 months after the event. You haven't said how "recent" your heart attack was, but if was in the last few months getting any type of quote is an achievement. You could try shopping around with the specialist companies to see if they can offer a better quote.
Stay at home!
Under the current pandemic I’d be surprised if they would offer you or anyone else travel insurance plus the fact there is no where to go as a tourist. Personally if your not travelling in let it run out and try again later in the year plus the fact more time has lapsed since your H A which might make a difference good luck
Was looking to renew as had booked Cyprus for late July before all this kicked off so on renewal they would still cover cancellation as the underwriting applied at that time. Not worth hanging onto cover but just opened my eyes to the increased initial risk costs . Will look at sorting next year when things settle down & as you say the heart will hopefully have stabilized
Thanks anyhow
If you look at my posts from 3months ago many suggested ways to go. But welcome to the club
I was quoted over £500 for two weeks in Tenerife. I haven't even had a heart attack. Diagnosed with ischaemic heart disease. Got it down to £250. Doesn't look like it is likely to happen now. Only money and I am still alive.
My European travel insurance for a year went from £135 to £690 when I told the company that I had heart failure. I changed company and got it down to £260 but they loaded it by another £260. I haven't told them about the pace maker as cannot see me going to Germany again for a while.
My husband is German so we go often when we don’t have Covid - I have had a pacemaker fitted but only in the last month - which company did you end up using. From experience have you found it better to go for an annual premium of just cover individual holidays?
I used insureandgo last time and it was an annual insurance as I visited Germany every few months but I don’t know about the future. My partner is ICU doctor there and is pretty pessimistic about seeing me again this year.
Hi there, I had HA 2nd of December whilst on holiday in Morroco had 3 stents done. Was due to fly to Egypt in 4 weeks took out insurance which only cost £126 last year was only 53 so mine doubled although looks like it wont be needed now. First quite 6 weeks after HA was 360. We just had to shop around.
Stay at home and save your money but most of all stay safe
That's what I like to see, a bit of optimism.
Hi there, I've not checked for me yet as we don't have holiday plans but my son has a genetic disorder and we were quoted £240+ for a week in majorca got out down to £130 for a year by going through the bank
Hi. I had a HA and 2 Stents Jan last year. I Have have worldwide travel through my bank account. At first they didn’t cover anything to do with the heart for about 7/8 weeks and suggested I called back. I called back after about 10 weeks and they covered me for everything.
It’s gonna have to be more than 6 months before you can successfully do this If you do get insurance they will only insure you per holiday and not for the year and it’s gonna be expensive
It’s a minefield getting travel insurance. I am with InsuranceWith as recommended by several people but they would not allow me an annual policy, I had to take individual policies for each holiday booked. Of course, there are no holidays on the horizon now but I am happy that I have separate policies as I am dealing with each cancellation separately. If the holiday company doesn’t refund, thenI will claim on the insurance.
I have read all the answers to you and I agree, you will probably get a policy cheaper than £950 once your condition has stabilised. Good luck!
