Loss of those I grew up knowing and loving.

I recently lost my brother in August. He passed the day after his 43rd birthday. I have taken it pretty hard. I used to go to him with my problems. I would also check in on him periodically. That’s the kind of relationship we had. Lately, I’ve been dealing with a lot of life altering and heavy situations and I’m missing my confidant (my brother). I haven’t been in a healthy place mentally or emotionally. Often times I feel so overwhelmed by him being gone alongside everything else that’s gone on. I thought about joining a local group for grief, but I’m not sure if they are still doing groups of that nature or groups at all for anything anymore where I live. It’s kind of daunting trying to research and call, and sometimes nobody answers the phone. I go to therapy once a week, but there’s so much going on in my life, and in my heart and mind that I can’t fit it all into a one hour session. Also, one on one therapy is a big expense and I’m not sure paying for more visits is an option I can afford. I’m hoping that this can help me with the great hole in my heart and a large part of my life now being gone forever.

Hello JadedLife82 Welcome to our Community.

I am so sorry for your loss.

Such a young age to pass, and being so close is a huge loss for you.

I totally understand that you would miss him more at times of stress, he was there for

you and comforted you, which is a massive loss.

You mention you are going to therapy and I am wondering if this is Bereavement therapy or another private reason (no need to divulge). If it is Bereavement therapy, then you should be able to confide in local Bereavement support, that would depend if you are in the UK of course. If the phone isn't answered then please keep trying at various times throughout the day, some may not be open everyday.

We have lots of really lovely members here, all going through the same pain, so I am sure we will do our best to support you.

Thank you Chloe for your kindness. I’m in the USA and I don’t privacy therapy for other mental/emotional health reasons. I’m a Marine Corps veteran, so I’m sure you can see what may have prompted my need for therapy in the first place. Here’s a picture of my baby girl, Chloe who shares your name. She’s my ESA and I feel like she and I support one another. I hope that you have a great holiday season.
