It’s been a year

Since my mom passed away.I have her cell phone since my husband purchased it for her and I’ve just had it there. He wants to give the phone to his sister so I’ve been going through the photos and old texts. It’s kind of pointless. Don’t know why I’m torturing myself. They are all sad. about my aunt who was unconscious and finally passed away after two months and then my mom herself getting feebler by the day. Unanswered texts to friends as it got harder for her to text and then finally she passed away too. And of course the text about whitening my teeth bc she always has to find something wrong with me.....

Hi fallen_leaf. It will be hard to go over our loved ones things. Sometimes though there are recording of them that may bring comfort, maybe the voicemail message or texts when she was ok. Otherwise it can be very distressing if it is all bad news.

Is there another family member who could do this for you?

At the end of the day i am sure you would like it all to be done and dusted and maybe giving the phone to your sister-in-law would unburden you of something no longer needed.

Good luck.

Hi fallen_leaf

Anniversaries are always very difficult to face but you'll get through this. Regarding the photos and messages, you could always print the ones that you'd like to keep and put them in a memory box, decorate it and fill it with little things that mean a lot to you x

I know these feelings all too well. I still have my mother's phone. Haven't done anything with it. She often deleted histories (so as not to leave proof of what she said).

It is pointless, and you're beating yourself up with it. Pull off any photos or message to your own phone and do a factory reset. You will feel better when it's no longer your problem to sort. 👍🏻

I have my sisters phone too and am too scared to turn it on. I’m just not ready. So I definitely know how hard it can be.

Anniversary’s and holidays are the hardest. My mothers birthday and day she died are opposite times of the year so I’m pretty much a mess all the time.
