Have friends/acquaintances deserted you?

Because they feel awkward and don't know what to say to you?

I ask this because so many people just don't know how to talk to someone who has suffered a loss. Sometimes all that is needed is a squeeze on the shoulder to let you know they are there for you. Did you experience a positive or negative reaction?

a lot of my so called friends know about my dad but as yet no one has called or came round.the only person who contacted me so far was a guy I volunteered with before I started work.we became friends then and went to one of his friends another volunteers funeral.maybe people just don't know what to say.

That's such a shame, it really is Kenny, I know it can be difficult but friends should be able to just be there for you, they don't have to say more than 'sorry mate' but just physically calling round means so much more and then you know you have their support.

Really glad the friend you made volunteering has been in touch, just goes to show.

Take good care of yourself Kenny.

I have been disappointed in some so called close friends other people have surprised me and I've made a few new friends.

Isn't that just typical mysmugcat ?

It seems quite common that this happens and there are many reasons for this but the fact that we make new friends I believe is because we tend to follow a different direction, we may have more support from a Church, a support group etc and make friends with those that understands us more. I am glad that you have made new friends and hope they are supportive to you.
