I’ve recently been put on daily colchicine after years of treating my behcets-symptoms with prednisone. Its only been about 4 days on colchicine and i still have my mouth ulcers.
My question is just this; does anyone have any experience of a potential overdose/allergic reaction by colchicine?? According to the prescription i should contact an ER if i have stomach issues and a sore throat. Problem is, my behcets has been keeping my GI pretty horrid for months now, but the sore throat is new. Basically I don’t know if this is connected to the new drug or just good ole behcets.
Of course I will contact a doctor ASAP just to be sure but in my experience, it usually takes a while. Just wanted to see if someone knows something meanwhile, to be safe!
I hope you’re all doing well<3

This problem will be related to your bechets disease and will not be caused by the medication, With reference to your mouth ulcers you will still get them but not as bad as you did before I hope this helps
Hi! I've been taking colchicine for 4 years and my daughter for one year now. We don't have so many mouth ulcers as we used to and we didn't experience any side-effects as far as we know. I think the most common side-effects are related to bellyaches. But it's always better to ask doctor. Every case is a bit different.
I just stop taking colchicine after being on it for 20+ years. And doing okay so far. I was taking a low dose and it was really successful at taking care of both genital and oral ulcers. Unfortunately, recently I did some research and discovered that colchicine and turmeric and of course colchicine and prednisone can have bad reactions with each other. One of those bad reactions is osteonecrosis. It’s very rare but it made me a little nervous because over the last 20 years I’ve had lots of prednisone and I had a couple bouts of taking turmeric. I finally realized my body doesn’t like turmeric and stopped taking it. Recently, long story, I started taking it again. But when I did some research I saw about the turmeric, colchicine, and osteonecrosis so I stopped taking it again.
Because I was having osteonecrosis symptoms, I asked my doctor to check for it and I’m clear. No signs of osteonecrosis. Thank goodness. But I did talk to my doctor and we’re giving the colchicine a break just to see how my body does because I’ve been on it pretty much 20 years straight.
Anyway if you were thinking of taking any supplements while being on colchicine I highly recommend searching colchicine and that supplement to see if there are any known reactions between the two. In my opinion, it seems like colchicine, while it works well for me, does not play well with others 🤓
For me sore throat has always been a symptom of the b, started long before any treatment. Colchicine has helped with the ulcers a lot and no reactions to it.
