Hi Garden
Yes I too have and do suffer with anxiety and strangely claustrophobia became a real issue too even in shopping centres, coffee shops if too dark, getting on aircraft etc but I sought treatment a few years ago and spoke to my GP his advice was to literally face my anxieties and my claustrophobia issues which I did very very slowly. I saw a therapist too who told me that I had a habit of taking other people's problems onboard rather than dealing with my own... so we worked out a way of me not taking on other people's problems and I have felt a lot better since though do relapse but quickly try to get control of myself.
As far as your itching is concerned what medications are you taking? I had a toxic reaction to colchicine which created a ithy rash which got worse and a different kind of joint paint, I realise the drug is fantastic for so many people with Behcet's.
My joints and muscles hurt all the time but I also have Ehlers Danlos, joint pain is very much a symptom of Behcet's too, do you think you are being disturbed in your sleep from the itching as well as your joints.
Sharing your experiences with others on here will help you understand how Behcet's is affecting you and what you might try to help alleviate how you are feeling and in turn make you feel much more positive and less anxious.
Take care x
Yes, severe anxiety- specifically related to BD. I used to see an ulcer and go, "HERE WE GO AGAIN!" and work myself all up. It's gotten better over the years for sure- but one tool that helped me a lot was using a benzodiazepine.
Specifically, valium and ativan.
Talk to your doctor about it. and good luck!
I’ve had medical / phobic anxiety, long story. I’d recommend CBT for this, either the CBT for dummies range of books if you want to self help or look at the books recommended by the clinical psychologist at London CoE on the Behcets UK website. Also check Insight timer as an app and BreathWorks. Also NHS services for mental health in your area - there are so many things available now. I’d wished I’d known about these sooner, the less anxious you are - the better your symptoms will be. Best wishes
