Massive GI Bleed

Hi. I’m wondering what kind of GI symptoms others have had.

I just got home from a 6 day stay at the hospital for a GI bleed. Lots of tests were done. Nothing was found. I’ve been having an array of GI issues ever since my hysterectomy in March of 2018, thing is... my Behcet’s flared January of 2018 so I guess technically either or both could be the culprit.

I’ve been experiencing chronic constipation, nausea, dizziness, trouble and pain with passing gas, anal fissures, pain with eating, significant weight loss and gain, low abdominal pain, low back pain, gas pains, mobility issues due to pain, and the following issues involving BMs: incomplete release, not being able to push BMs out, large painful BMs, having to move in weird angles or push on belly to have a BM, and loose or liquid stool with laxatives to include still not being able to fully defecate and still having a colon full of stool (as per xrays).

I’ve tried every doctor recommended and home remedy you can think of for (if you noticed the dates listed) over a year. All resulting in... 🥁

this massive GI bleed for “apparently” no reason. This occurred with essentially no warning, me passing out twice with no recollection of how I got there, and of course... making a complete wreck of my apartment with horrible bodily fluids, etc.

Any information would be helpful, because the docs don’t know.

I have upper and lower GI problems (ulceration, stricture, bleeding). The problem with Behcet’s and the reason for so few diagnoses is that they are still working out what is involved and what is not. They focus on ulcers in the mouth and genitals but struggle to identify the more serious issues.

In 1988 I suffered inner ear problems which at the time was not put down to Behcet’s. However, they now know that this could be related.

Your GI bleed could be caused by ulcers. Have you had imaging.? CT may not pick ulcers up so you will need an endoscopy. However if they discharge you without doing it they may not capture any ulcers. What you describe could relate to your Behcet’s.

Please let me know if I can be of any help.

They did an endoscopy, a colonoscopy, and a fluoroscopy and found nothing. I finally had a BM today “Friday” (it was white from the fluid I had to drink). It was my first BM since my colonoscopy prep last Sunday. Not sure if that’s too long or not. GI specialist is putting me on Dicyclomine, follow up is in Oct and June just started

I have similar issues, mine are neurological, from

The Behcet’s. I have gastroparesis, enteric neuropathy have lost a lot of feeling and have jejunal intussusception. May be see a neurologist as they can do neurological test for your bowel.

Hi BFalls

I agree with TomTomC in you trying to get seen by a Neurologist.

I have a issue with constipation and as much as I eat a good diet, plenty of fiber and lots of water, which I expect you do too, I really have to watch what I eat, removed refined carbohydrates a coupleof years ago which helped too. I was taking liquorice root powder every day but change this about 2-3 months ago to magnesium which I take jusr before I go to bed, I take it because I was getting calf cramps, magnesium has also proved very beneficial for me going to the bathroom, maybe either of these might be helpful to you too.

I am currently seeing a Neurologist and have yet to discuss bowel but I have discussed my frequency of going for a pee, I blame this for constipation...

Really sounds like you have had a real time of it recently, I really hope you can get some help and answers to you GI problems.
