Canker sore patches on genital ulcers

Has anyone had any luck with using canker cover patches (meant for canker sores in the mouth) on their genital ulcers? I’ve tried it this week (along with prescribed prednisone, but I needed relief for school and work) and they worked on one ulcer as it disappeared within two days (a record!) but ripping the skin off another one. I wanted to know if anyone else has had any experience trying this. Thanks!

I've not tried that, but I've had great success using the 'magic mouthwash' or 'magic swizzle' mouthwash that my doc rx'd for my oral ulcers! I soak a cotton ball and liberally dab on my genital lesions and it works wonders!!! Another trick is to use the skin barrier wipes. They sting like heck, but form a barrier over the ulcer and relieves the pain from sweat, movement, etc. A few times, when I did not have the mouthwash, I used a mix of maalox and otc numbing canker sore stuff. I hope something here helps!!

To prevent new lesions, I have found that non-talc powder seems to help a lot. I use baby powder that is made mostly of cornstarch. Less friction and reduces moisture. Cornstarch is generally safe unless you’re allergic. Test somewhere else first!! Maybe a foot, or on the tummy ... and if you’re a bit squeamish, don’t read past here!! Dear God, the horror of trying stuff.... I am the poster child for trying stuff that ends very, very badly. It’s not that I doubt anyone else’s remedies, but I had a doctor suggest remedy - and it was with stuff that is made to be used on skin! I actually had to coat a Depend pad with Vaseline so the lesions and, later, all of my genitalia, wouldn’t get stuck to my underwear. Blood and pus and skin. Dried. Stuck. How do you get it unstuck? Umm ... Be VERY careful about what you use to treat genital ulcers. I received severe chemical burns from a reaction to an anti fungal cream (doctor misdiagnosis - Behçet’s? What’s that?) that caused the outer layers of my skin to blister and come off. Not a very good place to lose all the skin. Scrotum and penis. Nearly the whole thing. Whatever I did in my past lives to attract that kind of karma, I paid for in spades! (Faint laugh) It healed after about four months, and I cannot begin to tell you the agony I went through. I actually worked during this time and had to be pleasant and helpful to people who had no idea what lurked beneath my trousers. Listen everyone (who hasn’t passed out by now) to my advice!! Test any concoctions someplace else first or check online and ask your doctors about it. You need to see how you react to things before putting them in sacred spaces. You don’t want to end up like me. Scarred but healed. The thing didn’t fall off, but I really thought it would never heal. Antibiotics and careful cleaning (screams included) kept it from getting infected. Came back once but Elidel cream (ridiculously expensive but worth keeping a tube of it) stopped it from becoming severe and the problem areas healed faster. There are one or two other, less expensive prescription creams that are similar to Elidel but I have not tried them. My apologies for the graphic horror of an explanation. Also, for genital lesions, try to take the coldest shower you can stand to help reduce the burn/sting.
