Hi everyone! I have two questions. Does anyone suffer from Sjogren's syndrome along with your Behcet's? Here is a good one......do any of you have orange fingernails? LOL! The symptoms of this crazy disease never cease to amaze me!
Sjogren's and orange fingernails: Hi everyone... - Behçet's UK
Sjogren's and orange fingernails
I do I was first diagnosed with Primary Sjogren´s but then when I got a new rheumatologist and finally got my diagnosis for Behcet´s he wrote my Sjogren´s to Secondary. This because he also thougt that I have had Behcet for many, many years.
About those fingernails, LOL, maybe not orange but more yellow with ugly stripes and flakes. Sometimes also ulcers and blisters.
Thank you for taking the time to reply. I was curious about the sjogren's because my new rheumy commented that sjogren's goes with lupus but not Behcet's. Hmmmmm....it has been my experience that Behcet's will get intimate with any number of other autoimmune diseases. It's a real flirt!
When it comes to Sjogren´s Syndroma, that it a decease the doctors here in Sweden do now well
I totally agree with you, Behcet´s is flirting around in my body and sometimes the doctors don´t have a clue.
Many times my rheumy says no it´s not Behcet but 8 of 10 in this group says yes, we have it too.
Hi and SORRY in advance!!!! Cannot help re your problem but you sound upbeat so hear goes........at least you won't need to paint your nails anymore....lol lol
I'm sure somebody with more knowledge will get bck to you and I wish you well.

Hi there,
I have Sjorgens type symptoms which run alongside those of Behcets. I suffer from dry eyes and sometimes my throat is so dry I cannot swallow without choking.
My fingernail problems are a bit different from yours. My nailbeds suffer from tiny ulcers which push my nails away, so I have white nails where they are not attached! The nails also become very fragile, so the only thing to do is apply nail strengthener (I use OPI nail envy) and varnish them to stop them from being so unsightly.
I wonder if the same thing is happening to you, but the nailbeds are bleeding a little leading to the orange hue.
Such a crazy disease we have! No wonder we are so difficult to deal with.

Thanks for replying, Suzanne.. My nails are also a pinkish white where they lump up. Back in my working days, I kept my nails nicely painted and groomed. Now I'm at a loss....paint them and draw attention to the lumps and bumps or leave them orange and just take the "whatever" attitude. Gardening season is coming up so I think I'll just opt for whatever......LOL!
