Shall i have the Mirena Coil removed??????

Hi All,

This time last year i decided to get a Mirena coil. When the nurse was trying to insert it i was in a lot of pain, apparently my muscles were spasming whilst they were clamped so they had problems inserting the coil. They managed to insert the coil in on the 4th attempt. I was in so much pain i thought i was going to throw up and pass out. I still had really bad pains 1 week later and was bleeding quite heavily. About 3 weeks later i ended up going to the doctors as i was still suffering with stomach pains, they checked the strings were where they should be and said after the problems with inserting the coil it's no wonder i was still in pain because my muscles were probably bruised etc. They said it should all settle down eventually. After 2 months of still suffering with bad stomach pains i was sent to the hospital to have an internal scan. I was told the coil was in the correct place so the pains should ease off, the lady said with my muscles spasming whilst they were clamped it was no wonder i was in pain and it will settle down over time.

1 year later i am still suffering with horrible stomach aches most days and i am bleeding most of the month. Surely this should of settled by now shouldn't it?

The main reason i decided to have this coil is i got into a new relationship, I'm 37 and haven't got any children, but i would like to have children. I was told when i decide to have children i can have the coil removed and i will be fertile straight away.

I would return to the coil inserter and have it removed with an alternative contraception plan. Its the only way you will see if your symptoms are because of the IUS.
