My daughter was diagnosed with autism this morning. I knew she has struggled since infancy, but finally was evaluated. Now that it's confirmed, how do I navigate services and support groups? Will she qualify for disability?

Hi there,
I've noticed your post isn't locked to the community so it might be worth editing it and locking it, as this a sensitive post.
If you click on the grey arrow next to the word More underneath your post, there should be an option to Edit. Once you click this, it will take you back to the text box, and you can scroll down to section at the bottom of the page saying "Who can see my post?" You then need to select the second box, saying, "Only people in this community" otherwise this post can be viewed anywhere on the internet. More people may be comfortable replying if the post is locked.
First of all, it's good that your daughter got the diagnosis. I know it's a lot to process but having the disgnosis is a good place to start and she will be able to get support because of this.
It's important you speak to her school about her diagnosis as they'll be able to put support in place for her.
Have you tried contacting the National Autistic Society as they may be able to guide you on what other support is available. autism.org.uk
Mencap may also be able to help. mencap.org.uk
I really hope one of these can guide you on getting the support you and your daughter need to move forward.
Xx
Edit - Hi again. I've just seen you're not based in the UK so neither of these will apply. But I'll keep them up in case they help someone else. I hope someone else here can advise you on the best way forward in your area. I know it's confusing. Xx
