First collision-- a doozy.

On Saturday (early April), I tripped over a sandal in my Dead Sea hotel room and went straight into a concrete wall. My right eye took the brunt of the fall. Thank God my vision was unaffected by this episode. I called a hotel doctor because the eye area was swelling mightily.... to the size of a golf ball. He told me not to move off my bed, not to do anything or even go outside, where it was warm and and to apply ice.. I stayed in my room for two days and per the doctor's instruction, bathed my eye in chamomile tea (cold) and thus avoided the hospital. Now my eye is purple and blue and I hope to see an eye doctor today to follow up. In the meantime, I had to go to a meeting to sell my (former) house and everyone asked me if I was a victim of domestic violence!!!!!!!.Never super stable, this has made evything worse plus I look like a monster!! Scared not to fall again.Neta

Somedays I could trip over a matchstick!

Re selling your house. Ours is also on the market, I'm in two minds whether

it would be good or bad if we got a sale. It's been up 4 yrs now, and I haven't

got the same energy to keep the place in 'viewing' condition, let alone pack

things up! Good luck if you're having to move soon.

I spoke to my eye dr today who told me he had the same thing! He went for a spin and fell off his bike. He told me that unless my vision is impaired (it is not) or puss starts forming, (it isnt), there aint much to do just rest and stay away from sunlight and sandy winds-- a trick in the Mid East. where I live.

Regarding the sale of my house. It was occupied by my ex-husband as per our agreement (not happy about this) so I don't have to move. I moved actually 3 years ago and its been on the market for about 2 years... We had to sell; the court said so. If your house has been on the market for four years, that means your asking price is too high. If you don't want to sell (not serious sellers) then take it off the market, otherwise brokers won't show it. Why dont you make it exclusive to one or two brokers and tell them to bring only very serious customers (what we did). Because I am not there, and my ex is a slob and does nothing, we basically sold it as is. I didn't even paint. I did nothing. As a former broker myself, I figured that the new buyers will gut everything anyway. But thanks for you good wishes anyway. N

Thanks, reasonable advice. We have actually reduced since it was first put up.

Houses on our estate are not selling well, hardly anyone is bringing their price

down, most have been on the market for the same length of time as us. We

actually put ours up for sale just before the market became seriously depressed.

The last people to view were what my husband describes as 'tyre kickers', not

serious buyers, just having a 'nose around', it wasn't accompanyied viewing

because the broker was shortstaffed, I complained afterwards. We are with

one broker, they have numerous houses around the same price and size.

Deciding where to move to will be another problem. I can still manage the

stairs but not quickly, how my condition progresses will probably dictate the

outcome.

It sounds like there is alot of stuff for sale. Figure out if yours is a "must sell" or not.

Maybe your "condition" can be turned into an advantage. A wise broker can say: "Oh Mrs X is somewhat disabled so she is willing to take X. Sometimes"low-ball offers are better than nothing. Remember, half a loaf is better than no loaf.

If however there is no rush, I would just tell brokers it's off the market only to be shown to a :"real" serious buye with advance notice to you.

Maybe it's a cyclical thing in your area because I h ear London prices are high=ishI have a private.elevator and it is helpful There are stairs too. Frankly, I wouldnt mind selling this place either, It is quite costly and large, I am thinking of the future. N

I have been through the divorce and house selling thing. It is all very unsettling.

I did not have Ataxia then.It was bad enough then.

I came out the other side.

I moved twoyears ago to a place without stairs ie a bungalow with my third husband.

I also would trip over a matchstick now.

Hang on in there. You never know what is round the corner.

I remember being very sick in Dubvrovnic years ago.I was bleeding a lot.I had only just found out I was pregnant.

I was very frightened and told to rest so I was left in the hotel room with my son who was a 9month old baby.My Mum and husband went out sight seeing in the sun.

Years later I was floating quite happily in the Dead Sea.

Right. I didn't float anywhere, too horrific-looking. Today I hope 2 see an eye doctor. Hate getting ill on vacation. Refused to give me the IVIg treatment today at the hospital because it has an anti-clotting factor and they (the hospital) are afraid of bringing on the bleeding again. Typical hospital super-caution. I cant believe my house is being sold! I feel as though my life has changed dramatically. The American ataxia site is very excited about the Obama brain program but I am skeptical whether a cure will be extant in our lifetimes. Also, I checked the reports from the experiments conducted on this condition, and none appear to ave amounted to anything despite the hooplah. Hope I am wrong.
