Holiday for 2020?

What, in your opinions are the best places to go to for quality (4 star and above) and are flat, for obvious reasons. We have just come back from a very nice "Adults Only" hotel in Alcudia, Majorca, where it was flat, and made walking easier. Please do not say Benidorm, as we have been, seen and got the tee shirts, lol

Thanks

Peter

Peter, I have never been out of the Uk, but Weston Super Mare is flat, the Promenade is about two miles long and is about twenty yards wide from the sea wall to the road...... all of the curbs are lowered at traffic light, road junctions, allyways and even little back streets..... there is even a slope down onto the beach..... and plenty of car parking on the seafront.... I would highly recommend it, and I am disabled! 😀👍

We do not go on many holidays abroad but if anyone ever goes to southern Scotland I thoroughly recommend Dumfries House Lodge - disabled room (Number 17). Fantastic disabled facilities. Bought by Prince Charles, great gardens too x

I am off to Marakech but I’m sure it will be a challenge! The heat, the crowds! But I do want to see it! Luckily, I will have my daughters arm!

Hi peakerhome

Yes I have ataxia and have been to Marakech, It is a bubbling city both night and day. Not one to be missed but I would hang onto your daughters arm especially when crossing roads.

Try some of the riads for a meal they are something else.

Enjoy.

I would recommend Santa Eulalia, it is in Ibiza in the more reserved part of the island and has some lovely hotels and on the flat which suited my husband

we have just got back from Majorca, I have been a few times this past few years, and we want to try somewhere that is not a Spanish Island or mainland.... apart from the Canaries

I found Paphos in Cyprus to be very good - many lovely hotels offering accessible rooms, flat promenades for wheelchairs, and of course the hospitality (ouzo etc!) is excellent. The Cypriots seem to have made a great effort to accommodate people with disabilities. The flight isn't too long (3 1/2 hours), and you're guaranteeed goood weather! Hope you find somewhere great wherever you go - keep us informed!

Last year we went to the Island of Rhodes, and had a great week, 10/10... BUT the airport experience coming back... NEVER EVER again -10/10, it was like being in the very dark ages, 3 hours of queing, unlike Palma, this last week, a bit fresh air, technology wise, more so than LBA

I always book airport assistance. But I really can't walk very far so I use my power assisted wheelchair. The great advantage of airport assistance is that you don't do all the qeues. You are taken through different gates and taken directly to the front of any qeues.

We're on the verge of our eighth visit to Nice in seven years. Every necessity available on the flat. Long promenade, easily accessible hotels, city centre very navigable, however........ no bathing in the sea unless you're nifty on your feet. Mainly pebble beach makes walking difficult . If you're sufficiently brave or unwise to go in the sea, exiting it is very difficult. You have to manage three things. An uphill gradient as you leave the water, shifting large pebbles beneath your feet and the undertow, which if you weren't already sufficiently destabilised will finish the job. Cannes further along the coast is fine for bathing but more expensive to stay.. Have a good time wherever you go.

e mail the hotel, and ask for a low floor, we stayed in an apartment room 113 it was huge, walk in shower, kitchenette, living room, balcony., pool view, 2 queen beds, close to local shops, bars, and the magnificent prom that goes on and on, totally flat.

No, it only gets busy at weekends, as it is mainly a spanish hotel, yes the spanish are loud, but they come to this hotel for weddings, christenings etc, the pool are is huge so always some where to lie or sit, the area is FLAT! We are going back this september,

Or salou is very good The Olympus Palace, big pool area with chairs and tables on the terrace.

Cala D'or is lovely and a shorter transfer from Palma airport, which is a bonus

What was Palma airport like? Did you have special assistance?

peterallison profile image
peterallison in reply toauntiesally

Palma airport was a breeze, albeit from the very long walk in arrivals. I was asked if I needed assistance, but declined, as I needed the exercise, lol. Compared to the airport in Rhodes, it was very high tech
