I posted a blog on 'Driving abilities and Assessments'. It's posted in the Ataxia UK blog section and not the community blog section. Have I done something wrong? Where should I be posting it to? I also posted a blog on 'Past and present' and it has a paddlock showing, ' This post is visible only to members of this group'. Was this correct?
Sorry for not understanding but could you advise me please. Thanks
I will deal with the second part of your query first if that is OK. When you write a blog you can choose your own privacy settings before you submit it- 'viewable to everyone' or 'viewable to only the members of the Ataxia UK community'. Like the current discussion forum on the Ataxia UK website, anyone can read anything that has been posted on the forum by others but they must log in in order to post themselves. That is similar to the situation with this new forum on Health Unlocked. Anyone can read all the questions and answers that have been posted without having to sign in to the community. However with the blogs, the writer can chose who is able to read their blog. If you choose in your privacy settings that the blog can be viewed by everyone, then everyone will be able to read it whether they are signed in to the Ataxia UK community or not. If you choose that the blog can only be viewed by members of the Ataxia UK community then only people who are signed in to the community will be able to read it. When I talk about members of the Ataxia UK community I mean people who are signed into the site.
As this forum grows we will hopefully get people browsing it who maybe do not want to become a member of the community, for example people who are newly diagnosed with ataxia. In order for them to read blogs, they must be viewable to everyone. You have not done ANYTHING incorrect. The level of privacy on an individual post is your choice. At present only people who are signed into the Ataxia UK community can read your blog 'Past and Present'. I can change this if you would like.
Now for the first part of your query. When you write a blog you can choose whether you want this to be posted in the Community Blog section or Ataxia UK blog section. This does not determine who can read the blog, it is what you decide in the privacy setting that determines this. We thought that the Ataxia UK section would be for blogs that are specific to Ataxia UK and maybe more official whereas those in the community section would be more general blogs about the trials and tribulations of living with ataxia. Going by this your blog on 'Diving Abilities and Assessments' should be in the community blog section. Again, I can change this if you would like. In future I would choose to always blog in the community section.
I hope you didn't find this too long-winded Iain and that it answers your query.
Harriet
Thanks again Harriet for clarifying that for me. Could you transfer my discussion, 'Driving Abilities and Assessments' to the community blog section thanks. My past and present blog will do as it is as I feel this blog is more of a personal (about me) type of blog.
I posted a blog on 'Neuropsychology benefits' and its saved under Ataxia UK blog. Don't know where I went wrong (again!) but I thought it would be better in the 'Communities blog' section. Can you ammend this for me thanks. Sorry for the complication.
