Does anyone suffer from tremors with their Ataxia? I cannot use my hands at all they’re so bad. I can’t even brush my teeth or unpeel a banana. No medication has made a difference.

No but my husband has Parkinsons.. he has a drug to control tremor. I'm wondering if your neurologist has tried everything. X

Clearly it’s incredibly difficult to control. Thank you for the reply. I’d like to think that the neurologist is doing their best!

yes I also suffer from the same problem,To date I have nothing to help. One gadget I wouldn’t be without is a small tank that holds enough water for about six cups of tea, it boils the water then pours it into your cup , no more danger with a shaking kettle.

Thank you for the reply. I’m like a dog, in as much as I can’t do anything with my hands. I only drink a prepared drink from a straw.

Just bought my elderly mother-in-law one of these - she loves it! She's got very bad arthritus & was finding a normal kettle too heavy. Its ideal for her, really easy to us & big plus, it saves eleectricity! Well worth it! I have Ataxia and would have no hesitation in getting one when I need to. Hope this info helps.

Yes I suffer from shakes - my neurologist tried a lot of medication and then I settled with one - I have SCA1 and the shakes never go away - even with medication I still have shakes - the medication only reduces the shakes - good luck

What was the medication? Did it significantly help? Thank you for replying.

Sodium valproate - but do look up on internet when your neurologist gives you something new to try

I forgot to add that one thing really helps the shakes is exercise - you can find hand exercises on YouTube I do both hand and leg exercises - my legs have started shaking and I started falling a lot and have to use a wheelchair
