Homeopathic Remedies

I have just come across a post from some time ago which I printed off about homeopathic remedies for neurological conditions, I subsequently sent for four different remedies but then got cold feet and decided not to take them and threw them away! Perhaps I was too hasty?

Has anyone felt some benefit from taking a homeopathic remedy?

Is it best to try just one at a time for a period rather than four different ones each day?

If you feel you have had a positive result from taking one or more of the remedies who is the best supplier?

Barbara

Hi Libra7Don't waste your money, I have tried numerous supplements over the years. I think everyone on here will agree, unfortunately nothing really works, also if there was something beneficial your consultant neurologist would mention it.

Keep strong and best of luck.

I also think many supplements are a waste of money though taking magnesium definitely stops the awful cramp which I used to get each night.

I can’t speak for your specific case, but may be worth anyone with a serious neurological condition having a look at the Terry Wahls protocol (diet and lifestyle changes). She is in the business of selling books of course, but the advice seems logical in my opinion.

I wonder if she specifically mentions homeopathic remedies.

For what it is worth, I fully believe in homeopathic treatments. Ofcourse there is no cure but it helps Me with some of the symptoms. I have been taking three formulas I got from ataxia Brazil, supervised by an homeopath locally. One formual is for ataxia the other for equilibrium and the other for for ataxia as well. I was diagnosed with MJD ataxia SCA3 in 2012 but started in 2007. I donot slur when I speak, I have no tremors and do not choke. Up to March I was still walking unaided, but I tripped on the cat and fell fracturing my L1, L2 and L3. I am already walking hanging on to someone. I am 69. My formulas cost me a total of €48.00 for about 3 months, so not a fortune. Alhough there is great controversy, I think we have nothing to loose, so I suggest you speak to an homeopath because homeopathic remedies are for a person in particular and not for a symptom. Best wishes Isabel

My husband has been taking homeopathy for a long time. I do believe he is emotionally much stronger, given the situation and what the future holds for him. It may have slowed some of the physical aspects down although that is hard to measure.

He still has good and not so good days but we believe it's worth trying everything, especially if it doesn't cost much. BUT it's very important to have an experienced homeopath, preferably with experience of neurological conditions. The homeopath prescribes according to the person's constitution not simply treating the symptoms with a 'sticking plaster'.

Medics can't mention homeopathy as there is no funding for research and it's therefore not approved by NICE. The Royal Homeopathic Hospital are, I think, the only medically recognised institution in the UK using homeopathy. It's much more widely prescribed, accepted and used elsewhere in Europe and worldwide.

Unfortunately homeopathy is often criticised and devalued - the big pharma companies won't encourage research as homeopathic remedies are often extremely effective and could potentially replace expensive chemical drugs. If far more people are healed with inexpensive homeopathic remedies the drugs companies would lose sales and funding. Doctors would also lose out on their commission from prescribing certain mainstream drugs if they were no longer needed to the same extent.

I accept that many people won't agree with these views but hope that my comments are food for thought!

Thank you for your feedback. I think like you that physio and exercise is is the only treatment for our condition. I think a positive attitude is also important as it would be easy to just ‘give in’. Although I can only walk with a frame I try to keep as active as possible.
