5 Week after AstraZeneca vaccine and still feeling unwell.

I am a 50 year old woman with no known health issues. I take no medications and I exercise regularly. Since taking the vaccine I suffer from headaches daily, I wake with one every day. I have an annoying cough and I feel dizzy and confused all the time. I am 24/7 fatigued!! I never usually even get the flu and when I do it is very mild. I am very concerned with the side effects as there is no question in my mind that AstraZeneca is the root of it. However, health care workers are very dismissive, saying side effects from the vaccine only last a few days. I know this is not true for me and I know there must be others experiencing what I am.

Do you have Ataxia? As you don't mention it, so not sure why you have posted here.

I posted it because I think if I had no health issues but have the same symptoms as persons with Ataxia maybe their symptoms are not because of the Ataxia, information is useful.

Fair enough, only I think most people who post on this forum have had a diagnosis of some type of Ataxia. To get an Ataxia diagnosis is not a quick thing so most people will have gone through a fair bit to get that far. My own journey to the final diagnosis of Friedreich's Ataxia took several years.

There are lots of reports of side effects and they are quick to dismiss it as coincidence.

Are you on B and D vitamins? To help with the fatigue

Have a look at the Vaers reports for UK. There are some active posts on other internet sites. You may find others with the same problems.

Hi DChad, I was exactly the same, ill for five weeks needless to say I never had my second one. I do have ataxia and other genetic disorder, so I am very sensitive to all kinds of meds. I was exhausted after the vaccine, left me totally in bed for the five weeks. My bloods were not right either slightly low platelets. My doctor gave me vitamin D because it was way low. I hardly ever get a cold and I have never had flu. The vaccine definitely does have side effects, know what you mean, I have felt worse having it. I wish I could of had Pfizer, I think that is the better one for less side effects. I read where AstraZeneca gets into your cell nucleus and Pfizer does not maybe that is the difference. My mum and aunt are 89 and were both fine with Pfizer. Having said that my sister and brother in law were fine with AstraZeneca. Everyone is different I suppose. Wishing you well, Suzie

i wondered about our added sensitivity, especially since i've developed all sorts of food and chemical allergies since my ataxia diagnosis. i figured the risk was worth it, though.

Wishing you well Susie, Astrazeneca was not my first choice either but it was the only one available to me at that time.

I had my first AZ jab in March and had bad side effects (headache bending over, lying down and SOBOE) starting day 9. I took aspirin and contacted my GP.

Five months on things are much improved but I'm now awaiting feedback from specialist on whether to have second jab. I did have covid in March 2020 so when I had the first dose it was the second time my body had been exposed to covid spike protein.

It may be worth getting covid antibody tests done (there are two), as this may help a person's decision making.

Look after yourself. Get advice from your GP as soon as possible too. Take care.

nope, i've read articles that say the side effects can last up to weeks. i was worried b/c after my first moderna vax, i had a headache for 10 days and i never get headaches. in fact the last one was when i was 14 and was coming down with the flu! then it cleared up, only to return after the second vax. also, docs were pretty dismissive of women for a while (months) until so many of us complained about period changes they finally looked into it and admitted the connection. if it can change our periods for months, what else can it do? i think the covid vax is extra strong and as always, you know your body better than docs.

i sometimes think i'm in battle with docs just to be seen as human as they are. SMH i'd log your symptoms, try OTC (though it didn't work for me) and keep updated. since some people have suffered strokes, i'd familiarise yourself and family about symptoms. and get help immediately if you suspect one.

i hope you get better soon. stay strong.

🙂 I have Cerebellar Ataxia, and have had both jabs of Astra Zeneca without ill effect. I’ve heard we may need a booster in the Autumn.

It was actually the Flu jab that gave me cause for concern. On the two occasions I’ve had it I was unwell for 48hrs.

Make sure you report it to the MHRA.

And also work on your vitamin D levels, which will help you get stronger.

Best wishes

So sorry to hear about this ,it must be very worrying for you. Most homeopaths who are practicing at this time will have lots of experience dealing with this .I suggest you find a good one and ask them if they have dealt with side effects of Astra vaccine, they can be expensive but many do a low cost clinic, good luck
