Hi just curious about how much sleep people need.

I have CA and need about 10 hours a night. Currently I am only getting around 8 thanks to my wife's alarm and stomping about in the morning.

I always have naps during the day.

Hi SamGH,

I need much more... usually about 11 hours. After I've done a few things in the morning like preparing dinner for mid day, I start getting tired. I think Betahistine also makes me tired which I take 3 times a day. After dinner I have to get 2 to 2-1/2 hours sleep. I make sure I get up then although don't really want to (am still tired). If I didn't then I'd have trouble trying to settle down at night.

It is said as you get older you need less sleep, I go to bed at 10pm, read for about one hour or so, settle down to sleep but I’m awake by about 4am..... try to sleep after that but have fits of dozing on and off, generally get up about 8-30 or so.... I dont smoke or drink and Im 74.

What do you take betahistine for I was on it they thought I had inner ear issues but the specialist didn't think that was the right diagnosis as I didn't have dizziness

I take Betahistine for vertigo. A few times I skipped the morning one because it made me feel sick and It felt better not taking that one. As time went by though I could tell I wasn't as steady so got back to the routine.

Dear SAMGH,

I sleep like a rock about from11 to 730 am, with a giant nap at one thirty, but I wake up from these sleeps feeling anxious and terrible. .Usually my bladder wakes me.xxxNeta

I need more sleep than I get, I always seem tired. I get about 3 hours some nights. Depends on how restless my legs are or how bad the pins and needles. I just can't sleep in the day, it makes me feel worse and I think if I can keep awake I may just crash out when I go to bed.

Baclofen fixes restless legs. Power Napping during the day does not affect my ability to sleep right through my alarm. Need over 8 hours possibly due to worker harder for everything we do. Try to get up at same time each day but this requires altering bed time.

By accident bedroom is setup for sleeping. No TV, warm, blackout curtains (as council illuminate my room), no computers only bedside clock and books. Try not to eat nor drink hours before sleeping. Double glazing cuts out any noise. Can not hear pre-dawn refuse collection.

If bladder wakes me, have pee bottle from sea kayaking days.

GPs are reluctant to prescribe sleeping pills, as habit forming and can become ineffective with prolonged use.

Hi.

I have suffered from constant tiredness for a good few years now. I have only recently realised that this is part of this horrid condition. If I feel tired I sleep for a couple of hours, sometimes more. I sometimes stay in bed most of the day....
